Can Indian-American Citizen (OCI)Keep Licenses in India?

Post by mumu1978 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 7:24 pm

I am new this is my first post pardon my errors, do tell me where can I psot my questions. This question below may have been asked by many NRI,s but I want to ask again, and if someone can tell me what is the membership fees, yearly, monthy or lifetime, I can join the membership.

I am a NRI and I own three guns with licence in India, recently I have applied for US Citizen but eventually will acquire OCI (Dual Citizenship)within two month after becoming a US Citizen, Can I still keep my guns and will I be allowed to retain my gun licence, which I have for last 50 years.I have about 200 friends in India who own Gun licences I will ask them to join NAGRI, as they all have problems with renewing licence as the Babus give them hard time.

Indian Constitution does not allow dual citizenship. OCI is not dual a citizenship . It is just a misleading name for a kind of long term visa.

Arms license is issued not solely on basis of citizenship. It is also issued on basis of residency of the licensee. Non citizens who reside in India can get an arms license. If you can officially prove that you ordinarily reside at the address mentioned in your arms license then nothing much to worry. Otherwise you may have to surrender/sell the weapons.

I appreciate your effort to enlist maximum supporters for NAGRI.
