Importing the same Calibre

Well,as far as I understand Calibres 9mm and above are prohibited for civilians in India.
But when I was going through the Arms Act,I read a paragraph by the Supreme Court,which says that if a person has the license for owning a gun of a particular Calibre,then he/she can import a gun of that particular Calibre.
So,that would mean if I have a license for a .32" Pistol , then I am eligible to import a .32" Pistol from abroad,right?

Now,the question is: To import that 'same calibre gun',do I need to join a ShootingClub/Association or will it be okay if I don't ? Because I am not going to import it for shooting sports,instead for self-defense.
Moreover I think,since the revolvers and Pistols made by the IOF (www.ofb.gov.in) are completely made of metal,which increases the weight(Ashani Pistol weighs 670grams when unloaded) and required trigger pressure is quite high,it will be difficult for ladies and even for men to use these guns with complete ease.

May I please know how you have come to this conclusion, by following which Sections of Arms Act 1959 and which Rules of Arms Rules 1962?

Import of Fire arms have many restriction when comes to personal import by individuals , do read the Dgft import policy. for details use search function in this forum .

As far as I know, no importing weapons unless you're a renowned shooter or a candidate for Transfer of Residence (TOR).

in 1985 Import of Fire arms are restricted. Only renound shooter National level got the permission for import the weapon of specific calliber from Dgft

You have to come on Transfer of Residence to be eligible to import a weapon and the weapon should have been with you for 1 year prior to import. Yes, your father can have the weapon on your licence provided you stay in India for 2 years continuously and should you go abroad again.

Anybody can confirm as I read somewhere that if I am coming on TR then I need to stay in India for 1 year but sudhaiob wrote 2 years. Is it one year or 2 years??????
