Dear Members,
I was wishing to find something on "Whether or not are there any Guidelines/Directives on disposal of fired ammo shells"?
I know that for uniformed & institutionalized departments there is a "Return & Recycle" policy in place through IOF mainly with a view to ensure accountability.
What are the directives or general norms being followed on the subject by all other/Private arms owners? And if there is any difference in disposal norms for
Cardboard shells & Brass shells?? Kindly advise.
Regards

Re: Guidelines on disposal of fired ammo shells
Dear Armour,
There is no as such rule for disposal of cardboard shells or brass shells. If your licence is having a limit of 50 or 100 rounds then just throw them safely and if your licence is having higher limit then normally they mention on your licence to store them for audit. If nothing is mentioned on your licence then you can throw them safely. I got 15000 cartridges for each weapon and on my licence it says proper inventory should be maintained and all the empties will be accounted for records by NRAI.

Dear Hardeep,
Can the absence of any such instructions on the license (with a 50/100 limit) be taken as implied "Self Disposal"??

Yes . Please take care to crush all empty brass shells with a hammer and render them not reusable. There is a chance of anybody misusing them by reloading or framing you .
