I am currently the OCI residing in Chicago area. I send my firearm application to Chicago consulate and the vice consular there just kept on repeating the same article found online that "OCI can not be issued firearm license". I sent in about 100 faxes to the Chicago consulate and froze their fax lines. Next thing I know, he emailed me back saying that my request has been send to MEA and they are waiting the response from MAE. Now, 6-7 months have passed and still no response from the consulate.
Thank you very much for any help on this issue.
Any progress as to if OCIs can import firearms with them?

my brother is also riding in same boat as you.. and wants to apply for a firearm licence in india... as to the import it is 100% true that you can take one firearm of npb with you.. as long as you have arms license in india... but i doubt if MEA will do anything in this case as your case will be highlighted nationally... the best course is go india.. and complete the formalities of application and in your jurisdiction and make your way from bottom through connections and greasing the palms of greedy babus of india..... and try the avoid the fact that you are foriegn citizen .. .. just follow the matter in routine manner.. do not make it special.... because most of them do not deal with special cases and they in fact will reject uou outright.... but by the way if you are sucessfull in having license procured through MEA .. please let us know as i will be trying for my brother too .. sitting here in u.s.. if sucessfull will do import of firearm via TR rules... thanx
