Should ammo be produced before police and collector
Hi
Should ammo purchased on a fresh license be produced before the licensing authority and the police??
I produced the weapon before both of them and the police entered the weapon in there gun rigester, and the cops asked me to get the ammo produced before them when I purchase it..
Kindly comment to the legality of the matter
Thank you
Regards
Syed

mr. Syed, NOT AT ALL. They simply want to make you to come to them so that they can ask for money in any other way.

Re: Should ammo be produced before police and collector
Last time I went to produce my weapon , the Si told me to deposit the weapon and get a Noc from Sp of police..
When pointed out that I had all the relevant documents to hold a weapon,he called up his CI,and he too promptly asked me to deposit the weapon with no justification whatsoever..
I sent a SMS from the ps to the Sp detailing what was happening and in a couple of min I was called in to the SI chamber and he handed over my weapon..
Now the Si has changed..And I am pretty sure the new guy will put the same drama of asking me to deposit..
So,am I obligated by law that I MUST produce my bullets before the local cops?
if I don't produce my ammo before them,am I in any way committing an offense as per law?
(my weapon is already entered into there records)
Legal eagles kindly give more inputs and personal experiences.
Thank you

Dude!
Use a lawyer or better still ask them in writing. Let them reply to that.
Or even better, use an rti application.
No one here is a lawyer, no one here will be there in person to talk to the police guys.
Get a lawyer and take him along!
Or buy a copy of the arms act and read it and ask the police guys to point out the provision which allows them to confiscate your firearm on a whim and a fancy

Syed,
There is no requirement under the Arms Act or Rules to register your firearms with the police. Why did you register it with the police? You are also not required to show your ammo to even the licensing authority.
This is what happens when you start offering unrequired information.

Abmehata,
I was asking for personal experiences too from members.Thank you for your inputs..
Winnie,
.I took the weapon to my Licensing authority for endorsement and the SP was there. So he ended up seeing it and he asked me to take it to the local cops..
Thank you for clearing up my confusion..Am not taking the bullets to the cops now.

Re: Should ammo be produced before police and collector
For the last 20 yrs , my weapons were renewed by different LAs in different districts . I have not been asked anywhere to register in the local PS, forget about ammos. Once the clerk asked me to surrender one weapon as I don't need more weapons for self protection. I informed him about his ignorance. That's all.

Syed,
When tomorrow the fellow sees you and asks you why you havent done what he asked you to do, what answer will you give him, that no one on ifg has done the same?
So take a legal consult for half an hour or buy a copy of the arms act or file an rti.
Cheers

ABm,
I do have the Arms Act..Will talk to my attorney bout this..As we all know ,it's not the written law that these cops follow..They have there own egoistic Hallucinated laws..
Might I ask,and if you would oblige me,Did you take your bullets to the local cops or LA?
Kindly ignore if you choose not to answer
Regards

Syed,if indeed he asks you that, tell him that you checked with the LA and that it is not required. Also that only the LA can order the arms and ammunition to be produced before 'him' (the LA) and he has no authority in the matter.Or in other words, tell him to take a hike.

Mr Syed be assertive in your talk and presentation .Most learned cousels (lawers) do not know about the arms act and rules. Please keep quiet and dont visit the police. I am wondering why this nonsense is happening to you. If it persists , write a RTI petition to the SP and Home department/ vigilance dept. Otherwise you will become an object for future molestation .
