IOF and the ban on Import.
One simple question.
After the ban on arms in 1980s, are all the new arms available in the market manufactured solely by IOF?!!
All other brand arms are 30 yrs old?!
I ask this because while checking out IOF's website, the arms listed in 'civilian arms and ammunition' look VERY primitive! Especially the handguns! The pistol is damn ugly!
Pakistan's illegal weapon trade has better arms!!

So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge
Of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the
Eye of the tiger

Yes till last year they were the latest type on sale in the market and now with TR & renowned shot import blokes being allowed to sell you'll see some new foreign made arms selling at prices at which one might easily be able to buy a top class SUV.A desert eagle was sold at 35 lakh a few days back.
You haven't lived until you have been close to death, for those who fight life has a different flavor that the protected will never know.

Re: IOF and the ban on Import.
Not quite accurate. Folks were always allowed to bring back firearms on TR, this is not new. However, except for IFS blokes coming back on TR, other citizens who bring back a firearm through this route are NOT allowed to sell/ transfer/ gift said firearm for the period of their natural life! Therefore the only TR firearms on sale would be either those imported by someone serving in the IFS or those that come up for sale after the demise of the original importer.boris wrote:Yes till last year they were the latest type on sale in the market and now with TR & renowned shot import blokes being allowed to sell you'll see some new foreign made arms selling at prices at which one might easily be able to buy a top class SUV.A desert eagle was sold at 35 lakh a few days back.
Renowned shots have also been allowed to import firearms for many years now. However, 4 years back or so the definition of "renowned shot" was amended to include anyone who has shot the MQS (minimum qualifying score) in his/ her discipline in the National Shooting Competition Championships (NSCC). While shooting the MQS is no joke (in any discipline), this amendment has allowed many more people to acquire the coveted "renowned shot" status and import firearms through this route. Firearms imported in this manner may be sold/ transferred only after 3 years, so long as the importer re-qualifies (as renowned shot) during the next two NSCC's. If not, then he/ she cannot sell/ transfer the firearm thus imported for a period of 5 years.
In neither case would the firearm be "new", as you are buying it in resale and not brand new in the real sense of the word. Though in some TR cases the condition may very well be NIB (new in box). Most (not all) firearms imported by renowned shots are used heavily (practice/ competition) before they are sold.
The prices are going to be high, as demand far outstrips supply and as the OP mentioned IOF products are not in the same league.
Cheers!
