Souvenir bullet and bayonet

Hi

I am returning to India in May after a close to 2yr. stay in the US. During my stay in the US I took some shooting lessons from a friend.

I have a couple of small live bullets (22 caliber) and one big live one used in hmg's. I also bought a bayonet at one of the gun shows I visited. The blade of the bayonet is just short of 6".

I intend to bring the bullets and the bayonet to India as souvenirs. I will not be carrying the bullets or the bayonet with me in travel (checkin luggage) but will be shipping them along with other personal belongings.

Any help in understanding the Indian law in this regard is much appreciated. Am I allowed to bring in the 3 bullets and the bayonet? I do not hold any arms/ammo license in India.

So how about empty cases without live primers , with bullets in them .?

Seen bigger ammo like 50bmg with holes in them , could they bring in same kind of rash - Haji

Do not bring live bullets as they are restricted items in import policy, and considered as ammunition under Section 2(1)(b) of Arms Act 1959 and to possess them requires a license under Section 3 of Arms Act 1959. Section 45 of Arms Act 1959 lists some exemptions. Please read 45(d) of Arms Act 1959. If you remove the primer and powder charge from the case then it may probably satisfy the import policy and Section 45(d) of Arms Act 1959.

Bringing in of bayonet should not be normally a problem. The bayonet would fall under ITC (HS) Code 93070000, the import policy for the same is free subject to the requirements specified in MHA Notifications. Basically it should mean that if there is no notification under Section 4 of Arms Act 1959 for your area, you should not be facing problem.
