Transfer of Firearm License. Possible?

Hi,
My father ownes a firearm license. He has his own business and has the permit for self defence. I have the following questions :

1) Can I transfer my fathers arm & license in my name. If yes, what is the process for the same? He is willing to surrender his permit if I am being given one.
2) Can I inherit a firearm from my father? What is the process for that?

I stay in Maharashtra, just as an FYI. Can anyone please help me out here.

You can apply for a new licence.,under the family heirloom system.Once you receive your licence you can transfer your fathers weapon,and his licence stands cancelled.There is no possibility of transfer of licence,only transfer of weapon is possible.
