shooting club and residence in different states.

Post by prashant1987 » Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:35 pm

dear fellows, i am in a confusion here with my address of residence and the shooting club. Dr. Karni singh shooting range lies in Delhi and my address of residence is Faridabad(haryana). Although the shooting range lies just 6 kms away from my home and indeed is near to faridabad then to rest of delhi. The main rifle event of our state "Haryana State Rifle Championship" is being held at the same karni singh range. So my question is That will it affect my application for an arms licence for the purpose of sports??

Just because the state "Haryana State Rifle Championship" is being held at the Karni Singh Range, it does not mean that it will effect your arms license application. You will have to follow the normal procedures to get the area validity of your license to also cover Delhi.

I think what the OP is getting at is whether or not this would entitle him to a multi-state/ all India license; am I correct?

If so, the correct way to approach the issue would be to first participate in said competition. If you have an existing license, then apply for a temporary permit to carry your firearm across the state border in to Delhi. After participation apply for a permanent extension of area validity to tri-state/ all India. Copies of your participation certificate along with paperwork you submitted at the time of applying for temporary extension of area of validity should be attached along with your application. Some jurisdictions would accept this as a valid reason for extension to all India, others require you to have participated in an event organised by NRAI like GVM or the National Championships prior to accepting your application for extension to all India validity.

P.S. Weren't the Haryana State Championships held last month? :?
