.45 ACP Prohibited or Permitted in India?

Post by limbka11 » Fri Oct 28, 2011 4:33 am

This may sound lame after all the inputs here, but its still unclear and I just want to know whether a .45 ACP Pistol is considered to be a prohibited or permitted handgun in India... Would a citizen or resident of India, be granted permission to own/carry a .45 ACP Pistol if he has a gun permit license.
FYI .45 ACP Handguns can be considered for target shooting as well as carry guns or for protection in the USA but am not sure whether the its the same case and would be considered in India.
Can anyone be specific and answer to these questions please... Thanks in advance.

frangi licence has no meaning in India. you would need to apply for one locally here for either PB OR NPB .

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.

It is permitted for ownership on a "prohibited bore pistol" license, which is issued by Ministry of Home Affairs Govt. of India; of course unless you have inherited it OR are the son of the Prime Minister you probably have a better chance of winning the national lottery... For more info, please see the relevant "sticky" thread within this section.

I completely agree with Ahbijeet. Getting a PB licence is next to impossible. However if you are a resident of Mumbai, you may be able to lay your hands on 45 ACP on a NPB licence.
