Ammo buying advise needed.

hi guys,
my dad has a DBBL and his quota is 250/500..his weapon is AIV licence..now, he has not brought any ammo since the last 10 years,the reason being that his weapon was in the police deposit,but it is home now..place of issue of licence is andhra pradesh.
his doubts are--
1- can he buy ammo in chennai? {he has all india validity on his weapon}
2-does he need to get any permissions to buy in chennai,,permissions from my DM or chennai DM or the chennai POLICE.?
3-he does not plan to take his weapon along with him..

any good stores that experienced members can suggest in chennai for ammo 12 bore and prices..
please help.

Any currently Valid ALL INDIA License can be used to purchase ammo in any state so long as the dealer is willing to sell you and there are no local restrictions in that state. I have an AIV license issued in Hyderabad and have bought ammo recently (08 Nov)from Tamil Nadu Armory recently. The original license must be carried for the entry by the dealer and if you are flying, then only 50 cartridges are allowed on the plane unless you have prior DGCA permission(I am told )
