1) You can purchase only the type of the firearm and ammunition quantity mentioned in the license.
2) You can purchase the firearm and ammunition from any firearm dealer, anywhere in India on All India License.
3) You can bring the firearm back by air following the rules of the airlines for firearms.
4) You have to produce the firearm for inspection at the "Licensing Authority" that issued the license.

My relative (a licensed gun owner) owns a Bernadelli Baby .22, a FUSIL ROBUST double barrel and is now planning to obtain a new pistol in the .22 or .32 once he sells his Bernadelli. The model and co. as of now not fixed. Some of the companies. he was looking into were the Beretta, S&W, Walther, Colt.

1. a) Can he purchase a gun from abroad, USA, UK, or GULF (DXB) and bring it to the country
b) Could he have a friend (license holder) do it?
c) Last but not least via the internet?

2. If he is to buy a gun from abroad, then would there be any duty on getting the gun into the country?

3. If yes, to the above, then what would the duty be or what kind of costs is he looking at?

4. According to you, how much would a .22 Bernadelli Baby (6 shot) go for if its up for sale?

Import of firearms is on restricted list of EXIM policy. Import of firearms is allowed only for "renowned shots" and under "transfer of residence" i.e. Indians coming back to India after staying abroad for a number of years.(If you check other threads you may find exactly how many years of stay abroad is needed, there are also various conditions like the person is not able to sell his firearm for x number of years and so on)If you really want to change this nonsense policy join NAGRI and encourage others also to do so, so that we can fight for our rights.
