I have a arms licence for a revolver valid in whole of Tamilnadu state. i have to go to karnataka state , for treatment for my daughter in my car . I haveto pass through MUDUMALAI ELEPHANT [/b]SANCTUARY AND BANDIPUR TIGER SANCTUARY, or SATYAMANGALAM SANCTUARY on my route. There are warnings boards NO WEAPONS or ARMS PROHBITED in many places all along the route.
If i carry my weapon and license with me enroute and if i am checked and caught carrying the licensed weapon, am i liable for prosecution, by the forest department . I am only a passer. Moreover can i take it inside karnataka. I need my firearm as i am travelling with my family on a long journey and a lonely stretch of forest . please advise

Yes you are liable. And if your license is for Tamilnadu, then it is illegal for you to have a weapon in Karnataka.. that is my understanding of the law in India.

This is the travesty of our Constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights. Arms Licenses are issued for self defense, which is a fundamental right guaranteed by Constitution under article 21. Freedom of movement is also guaranteed under article 19. Yours is a classic case when citizens have to choose whether they want to give up their means of exercising the fundamental right of self defense or give up their freedom of movement. Since you are going with your daughter for medical treatment, you may try exploring the option of transit license. IMHO practical solution lies in creating awareness of these misdeeds by Ministry of Home Affairs among all the people and join NAGRI to fight for our rights. If i carry my weapon and license with me enroute and if i am checked and caught carrying the licensed weapon, am i liable for prosecution, by the forest department . ‘‘The right of self-defense is the first law of nature; in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest possible limits. ... and when the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.’’— Saint George Tucker, Judge of the Virginia Supreme Court 1803
