scope tilt

Post by drifter » Mon Jun 07, 2010 5:40 pm

Dear all,

I have a gammo 3-9*40 IR scope, the issue I have is that when I mount the scope in alignment with the crosshairs the scope is tilted to the right, when I mount it in alignment with the scope elevation, windage and IR knob the reticle is tilted to the left. I have no clue whether this is normal, pls advice how to correct it.

Do you have a Spirit Level to check if the scope is mounted properly. ?

sniper,

did check with the spirit level and there is a difference, the crosshairs are tilted. Pls explain the procedure that you would follow to mount the scope with the help of spirit level.
I am sure other guys here would have experienced similar situations, guys pls advice.

Sniper,

thanks a lot, had a look at the thread and I did try it but to no avail. The scope is still tilted to the right for the crosshairs to be in proper alignment.

What mounts are you using and on which air rifle ? You need to centre the reticle and then use a spirit level and weighed thread to align the crosshair horizontally and vertically.

Best thing to do.
Remove scope / Mounts.
first attach the scope to the mounts and tighten screws in proper order.
check if it looks good.
Then mount.

p.s. have you tried loosening the scope rings and just turning the scope a bit.

I am assuming you have the Leapers DN054 mount with weaver rings for it.

Please note it is normal for the scope to tilt down when this mount is used. That is its purpose.

Mount the entire thing using this guide

http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2008/07/ ... sting.html

http://www.pyramydair.com/site/manuals/ ... Manual.pdf

Mount the scope making sure elevation knob is on the top and windage knob on the right.

Either your weaver rings are causing the scope to not align with the length of the gun or their is something wrong with your scope.

While you are at it download one of the scope mounting guides from the internet and use it. Please don't make any assumptions. Do the job as directed in the guides.

Goodluck.

I presume that the tilt of the reticle to the side has been taken care of now.
The flickering of the light might be due to a bad battery connection - try reseating the battery and close lid properly.

Hi drifter,
> Suggest that you check with fellow IFGian Mack the Knife about your scope's crosshair tilting problem - he may be able to help you. There is a thread on 'Scope Mounting' posted by him sometime ago.Good Luck.

open the eyepiece, you can see the crosshair . turn it to the desired level without breaking it, if it is tightly fixed, disassamble everything possible
there will be a smaller tube inside the main tube. turn the tube to adjust the crosshair.

dont blame me if anything goes wrong :D
