HI
I TRIED TO PURCHASE A Gamo Big Cat 1200 Rifle & 4x32 scope!, caliber - 0.177" FROM
http://www.pyramydair.com/. The gun was priced at $139 and the shipping was around $128. Thats insane, it all together demotivated me to carry on my purchase. Any alternatives , please suggest !

You just need to look at the profit margin people expect for these after they land in India to get motivated again.
Case in point

The same thing here

Sell the el cheapo Chinese made scope for a couple of thousand, the case that you get it in, for another couple of thousand, use the gun for some time and then sell it at a hefty profit
BTW, the shipping would be dependent upon size and weight and would be the same for a $500 rifle as for a $ 100 rifle as long as the weight and size of the package is the same.

shipment can be much less if it send by post service called Registered Parcel, label on parcel must start with RR. If send by courier $128 is absolutely normal. you can insist that it should be send by Post, if they do not agree, there is some smaller companies who will definitely agree. Check GunBroker.com for guys who deal in air rifles, it is always easy to talk to person who run business rather then employee of big company. Also you can get better price for sure.

It seems insane to you because of the ratio of
air rfile cost : shipping cost
You can try getting the same air rifle from another dealer in the US who is willing to ship by USPS (US Postal service) which will still be around $80/-.
Frankly if you worry about its shipping cost, you won;t be able to own one......

Good luck, Ravi. It's unfortunate that so many US companies will only ship by UPS or Fedex, and not US Postal Service. Hawaii and Alaska experience the same problem. And it gets especially bad when they insist that they can only ship 2nd day air. That's when I usually tell them what to do with the order, and start looking for another supplier. I know exactly how you feel. Cheers.

hi everyone !!
thanks a lot for your replies. I believe IFG is the best site for guns !
I am a new member to this forum and rather not very aware of air guns !
I would like to know which air gun is better the break barrel guns (with spring piston) or the PCP guns in terms of accuracy and speed ?
which air gun has the maximum speed and accuracy irrespective of its type (pcp or bb or any other type) ?
Thanks
Ravi

PCP will give you more accuracy + velocity than anything else.
If its a choice to buy make it a PCP
