Request for Info | national pnuematic air rifle

Hi
I want to buy a national pnuematic air rifle.

I am really getting hooked up into this and feel I should have a nice collection.
My understanding is that this is different from CO2 model when it comes to compressing air.
I would like to understand how the air will be filled into it. Do I need to buy any special equipment to compress air or will it be done using an onboard leaver system.

I've fired these rifles at the indoor range of the factory. They are amazingly light to cock and shoot despite their bulky looks! One only has to be careful of the trigger while or after loading. It's that light! Secondly, there is no safety lock. Stock is nice and could be modified to suit your stance, but i guess, you'll have to do it yourself as the factory won't do it for you. Cocking lever is situated on the right of the barrel and it's not as tight as the other springers made by them. Two models are available, one with peep sights and the other open.
Last I remember, they were making them in lots of tens. Cost is around Rs.9000 ex factory, and yes, they allow you to choose from the lot!
Unlike the springers, they don't have much recoil, added to the fact that it is a fixed barrel air rifle, the accuracy is amazing. I personally feel it is a better buy than the springers provided you are willing to pay that much. You could call them on 079-25830221 and have word with the manager. I have yet to see this model with any dealer so I think the best bet would be to buy from the factory. Their after sales service is good too, provided you take the rifle to the factory.

Thanks for the inputs. I would also like to know if any special equipment like pups or something is required to load the rifle or it the gun self sufficient for operation

From purly target practice perspective that should be ok.
Still my orginal question around if I need something else other than the gun to use it is still not known

Could you elaborate what you mean by 'pups'? The loading procedure is that there is a lever that you twist anticlockwise to open the breach, insert the pellet and close with a clockwise motion. It then shuts with a 'click' and you are all set to fire. Something like the IHP Hammerli Cadet without the bolt lever.

Sorry I meant pumps.
pnuematic air gun would need to be filled with acompressed air. how will I acheive filling the air. Do I need special pump to do that. Or the onboard leaver will do the job?
Is there any special equipment required for using these guns

gverma: I had the opportunity of trying out the IHP pneumatic rifle a couple of weeks ago.
This rifle does not have a spring. The air is compressed using a lever on the right side of the action. No pump or cylinder is required. The action is cocked via a rotary bolt at the very rear of the action. It shoots at about 500+ fps. the owner said he chrony'd it at 540 fps. It comes in .177 only.
Pros: It's accurate. the peep sights are very good. Pumping it is no strain. It has a high comb stock that I like.The trigger is light and adjustable.
Cons: It's Bloody Heavy. It weighs in at about 10.5 pounds.
I usually plink with an IHP 35 and have no problem with an afternoon session of 70-80 shots. With the IHP pneumatic I was ready to give up the ghost after 10 shots. It's unusually muzzle heavy and I had to rivet my elbow to my abdomen to keep it level - and I stand at 6'1'' and weigh 85kilos
Also, according to the owner, he had to work at a persistent air leak and replace all the rubber factory seals with Derlin ones. The problem with air leaks has also been reported by others on this forum.
I believe the landed price of this, including taxes and transport is around 12,500 rupees.

I absolutely agree with lazybones. Now it's just a personal choice. One of the reasons I did not purchase it was the fact that I wanted an air rifle for my son, who's 9, so the weight problem played heavily against it. However, should you use it in prone position, it think it should be decent.
One advantage it has is that it requires no external parphenalia to compress air. Should you be in the field, all you have to do is cock the lever!

What you gents haven't seem to taken in to consideration is that these aren't plinkers. These are made strictly for ten meter issf competitions, which is why they weigh more, which is also the reason the trigger is a hair trigger. Rivetting your elbows to your floating ribs is normally how you shoot in the standing position. If you want a plinker get the model 35 in .22 or the model 25 in .177. These are beginners target rifles, it is for reaching till the state level and after that you will need to upgrade to an anshutz or a feinwerbau rifle. The pneumatic rifle offers the best value as far as economy and simplicity goes.

I had called the Dealer in Delhi and they had given me a price of
18K +5% tax for pnuematic air rifle
9k + 5% tax for air pisol
Which I can see is very different from the ball park figures given to me.
Is there an online location where I can book my order ?
