My sweet commando .22......made for each other !!!

hello guys....gv eve once again.......
New to this forum.....bt not as new as i used to be the previous time!
I had spent hours reading posts over this forum. They are simply fantastic!
May be I have pretty a good knowledge about air guns by now......
Now let me come to the point........
I saw a post about- my new air rifle-commando (remodelled) or some thing like that......with fantastic pictures about the commando model gun n the pellets shot from it after restructuring its mechanisms it seems......
There are many things i would like to know n which i would like to share....
I have the same gun which was being discussed in those posts. A .22 rifle which I think is simply superb.
It is my first gun n I have already shot 25 packets ie 25x100=2500 pellets out of it.
I have not experienced any sort of decrease in power of the same.
- It is a sturdy break barrel gun whose pellets punches in and out through the walls of paint tins at ranges 10-12 m.
- Pellets go into the can (but not exit) at ranges 25m, the max available space in my locality.
- Can break ceramic wall tiles at range 25m
- Can break hard first quality vitrified floor tiles at range 10 m.
- 4/5th of the pellet length gets embedded into hard wood plank at 2m range.
- makes a 4 mm dent in hard dry teak plank.
- breaks beer bottles at whatever distance i have tried from- the max being of course 25m.
It is a local make air rifle. but seeing its performance n reading through the different posts here, I think its nowhere inferior to the ihp ones. Am i right?
What do you experienced guys think about my notion?
Being a civil engineer, i know how hard a jhonson first quality vitrified floor tile would be. Every time my gun break them, i simply fall in love with it.....
And i haven't tried target shooting.....coz i dont have access to such facilities yar....
Just happy with plinking......but guys.....plinking with pencil size batteries at ranges 20-25m without even a telescope..........dont you think it has got a cutting edge?
Well.....me happy with what i have....plinking with zero error does create champions , if i am not mistaken?
whenever i get time i do practice at it.
Now I wish my frnds out here may please post your response about my .22. You are the experienced hands n i would not like to be in a "thrishanku swarga" either.
also please tell me, with the data i have provided about my gun's performance, at what FPS velocities my gun would be shooting? I use marshall shot round head pellets.
and please dont feel i am praising myself with this post, but with this i would like to boost up the morale of many many like me who cant dream of imported guns n far fledged costly shooting ranges.
And i more thing about me......my favourite hero is eklavya of mahabharata. Where there is a will....There is a way.....
right? thank you guys.....
Hope someone will respond,,,,,,,bye........

Hi Mate,

lets not talk about whats inferior and whats not.. lets talk about you..i am totally amazed by your effort in transforming this air rifle...i am reading your post from day one and i admit that i thought you will abandon this feat and disappear..the way you updated this post shows how level headed you are,and an example of perseverance..with this zeal and enthu i am sure you will have success in whatever you do in life.

happy shooting and keep em comming

Hi Farhan,

I guess u have mistaken navneeth for vijaycool (another thread on the same gun make) your words are sure encouraging though 8) .

Navneeth,

Your gun sounds really good :D . How ever, if I were you I’d take my gun on a weekend hop in to a bus and go to Calicut, find a lonely stretch of Beach and test my gun to the core  (range grater that the 25m). Plan of scoping the rifle?

Hi farhan n big daddy..........
Thanks for you compliments.....
i had started typing my previous post n went on doing it till it became a huge essay as it seems to me now! But what i said came deep from my heart.....
Me working as Asst engineer now.....too too busy...but shooting n craze for guns is a hobby from my childhood which i preserve till now...
earlier in my school days it was catapult!
then i made my own air gun- for shooting green peas ofcourse. My first air gun, or rather a pea shooter! dont under estimate its power guys.....its 7 mm dia green peas shots can well punch through 42 sheets of newspaper....(now where near rifles...but its doing the best it can na?) i do preserve it like a priced possession....
And now i owe my .22.
Nxt god only knows what...may be a guided missile!
As for trying out my gun at farther ranges, going to calicut is a bad option since it takes 5 hours or so to reach there from my home. we have paddy fields nearby....i plan to experiment it there. Will post the results soon.
as for scoping the rifle.....my .22 doesn't have any groove or slot for that, what do i do?
ok Do reply back....Thanks a lot...
& Wishing you all a very happy new year....

Fixing a rifle scope isint that difficult if you choose a good fabricator. Machining a scope rail in not rocket science either. You could easily fit a rail. I would not recommend you to grove a railing. Somewhere Tirths has given a drawing. But frankly its that simple.

Congrats for your purchase. I didnt say there is no power I am trying to improve the smoothness and power at the same time. As I mentioned the low power is due to the leaking washer seal and will be replaced. I have improved the strength of the sear which will be needed for the increased stroke volume.
