Dear All,

Couple of months back I presented my nephew a brand new IHP 35 in .22 Cal.( he is 12 years old and has expereince of IHP 25, in .177 Cal. inherited from his Dad), may be 500 pellets went threough it.

Nephew was complainning about poor power and inaccuracy, today I had a chance to dismental/and rebuild the airgun.

After dismentaling I was expecting dried leather seal, but was surprised to find a Synthetic Piston washer/ Seal was installed from factory.
It seems to me made of PVC or cheap material, had scrach marks all over its side walls, and felt preety hard or had no flexibility

I replaced with Jim's Apex Seal ( not so used but got it changed while rebuildig my Diana 48) piston polished, cleaned everything twice, applied moly grease, light oil on Main spring( surprisingly long spring 14.5", guess they got inspired from FWB 124) , and put all back togather. Finally few drops of Beeman Chamber oil.

Bingo, gun did dieseled initialy few shots, leter gun became much smooth then ever before., whole evening I was shooting with it , approx 150 shot after I tried to test its power, I could easily puncture through both sides of heavy Shaving foam empty can. ( before it was just a touch mark )

If any one familiar with IHP new introudtion, please feel free to share, ( Air Rifle was hand picked by dealer 2 month ago from IHP Factory, Vatva, Ahmedabad)

I was sure to call you, for seal n adoptor with ref to above case.

I m aware of your development of adopter, in this case adoptor was made by factory itself and perfact fit for Apex, I live in A'bad, and dealer is very good friend of mine, I asked for .22 so he personaly visited factory to pick rifle for me, I wish I could share pics of original piston with modifications,

Hi maverick,

they don't mean a new model of IHP, its the same model everyone (just about everyone) recommend, atleast for quality and performance among ''made in india''. Though .177 is better for target practice, .22 is prefered for power.

And this thread is not about new model but its about the piston seal/washer of IHP Mod 35 .22

I m talking about, factory fitted synthetic piston seal instead of leather one

but it is of poor quality material, Apex seal works gr8,

so we have to wait till they improve quality of seal, or buy Apex from tirtha

I agree with Preetham. The initial investment would be high a bit. You may think why to spend so much of money but after installing the apex seal, your toy will be a nice shooter. There is a pro tuner Jeetesh has done wonderful work on his IHP and now it is nowhere less than an imported gun.

Hey Thirths...im a lil embarrassed....long way to go before im a ''pro tuner''...you of course will qualify with the kind of knowledge that you possess....thanks anyway....and thanks to many a forum member here for their very valuable contributions from time to time....

Heres' the gun folks...improved IHP B35 .177 cal





Modifications
Choked barrel 40.64mm
Synthetic breech seal
Honed and polished receiver
SS spring guide
SS Top hat
JM E3650 high power MAIN spring
Modified piston…centre cut on lathe and thrust bearing polished to glass finish
Apex seal and adapter from Thirtha
And finally fitted with the all important two stage trigger from Karizman

The maximum recorded velocity by this gun is 862FPS with 7.09gr H&N diabolo pellet….otherwise it is in between 795 and 830FPS with most other imported and Indian pellets…

The accuracy has improved with the new crisp breaking trigger….only the barrel joint bolt and breech block pivot area needs to be worked on for arresting any side play…right now im using brass washers…

Accuracy results:
with GSmith 8.49gr competition pellets.....shooting at 810fps....distance 13m.....4x32 Gamo scope and bench rested...minus the 2 test shots and the 2 flyers...on a standard ISSF 10m air rifle target...the best CTC was 0.80''..

Jeetesh, I think the new gun should be renamed as IHP PKJ35

thanks Kanwar....and Thirths ...lets not take much away from the IHP...at least the gun cooperated all through the modifications...it is almost impossible to work on most other Indian air guns...

How did you manage to fit a choked barrel did you make it or bought it of the shelf?

How does it help to hone and polish the receiver?. Where can I get a SS spring guide, SS Top hat & JM E3650 high power MAIN spring.

Modified piston…centre cut on lathe and thrust bearing polished to glass finish (pls explain this process and the advantages). How does a two stage trigger help?.

the existing barrel was compressed at the end with the help of a heavy duty flywheel press using appropriate dies
honing (if required) and polishing help in reducing friction..
the SS spring guide and top hat are custom built...
JM E3650 main spring from JAMES MACCARI Air rifle headquarters (ARH), USA
the thrust bearings or the protruded ends of the piston are polished using fine grit paper on a lathe...a fine cut is then taken on the intermediate portion of the piston...again, friction is reduced...

ok here goes...good you asked...honestly i had not calculated myself...it roughly works out to be INR9000.00 so with the gun added it would be INR 14000.00.....

Thanks for the reply, pls let me know the detailed process for choking the barrell would like to try it on my gun, what is the extension in the end of the barrel?. Does the 9k include the scope?, if so pls let me know where I can buy it?. Looks like you have taken effort in polishing the stock.
I read about the 2 stage trigger, could you advice the best means to source it and how much did it cost. Man if you were in this part of town you could open a specialist IHP custom mod centre. I hope to bring my gun to up to the same standard as yours.
