Welcome to IFG. Glad to know that you are considering to pursue more challenging aspects of shooting sports.Air rifles shoot certainly longer than air pistols but it is difficult to shoot with the best of them consistently accurate beyond the range of 30-40 yards. To start with an IHP/National air rifle is a good choice. There are more expensive rifles available but they are imported and cost a lot.You can go for them as you improve and also your understanding of the sport.

Thanks Vikram... and i hope I learn more things and will be a part of this community as I can see the people are very helpful. Can you advise me which is the best long range and a powerful rifle that i can buy in india? As im thinking of getting it from AIMCO. I already know a lot about the trajectory of the bullet and to aim as i have been practicing a lot with an air pistol. Guys pls tell me which rifle should I buy from the AIMCO site. It should be very powerful and should have the best range among the guns available at AIMCO. And what kind of pellets should I be using as i want to shoot at long range. Thanks

Zinni,
You are welcome and as time passes you will see that we are a very friendly bunch and willing to help. The IHP Model 35 in n.177 calibre is a good starting point and I think that's a fair price. You do not need a very powerful air rifle to shoot consistently accurate. At this stage do not worry about power-range etc.Concentrate on form and accuracy. As you make progress, you can come up with more informed requests for information. Please remember, any kind of hunting, except crows and rats, is banned in India. Also, please read the safe usage of firearms and air arms.Safety comes first!

Hi Zinni,
Many of us started with the IHP National air rifles. You can wait for others to chime in.In my opinion, it's the best value for money quality Indian made air rifle. The imported ones cost a lot more, often
25-50K.

Master shot round head works very well in IHP. also try the pointed ones. they will give you a wee bit more range.

Hi zinni,
Suggest you to stick with the time tested and proven IHP air rifles in 0.177 caliber, which is used by majority of members at one point of time and owned by many.
All the very best to you. A happy and safe shooting,
Thanks,
Srinivas.

dear zinni,
where .177 will have more flat trajectory then .22 will have pellet drooping.heavier pellet will negotiate better with breeze..22 has more leathel impact on anything whatsoever.due to premitive trigger system most indian air rifle lacks accuracy thought some of them maintain good standard.A proper tuning change the performence dramatically.now it is your choice.
