Thirtha's JM seal works!

Post by pkjeetesh » Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:42 am

Friends...installed Thirtha's JM seal and adapter today in the IHP35 .177....added 27fps more....the gun now shoots at 827fps with RWS 7.71gr pellets...the chrony had last recorded 800fps with a JM E3650 spring .... picture...

chrony readings were taken after 40 odd shots only...to rule out any dieseling..

for those wanting to try this out...here are a few suggestions

1. the edges of the adapter are sharp...file off some portion...just a little...or just sand it down a bit
2. you have to first fit the adapter and tighten it on the piston
3. retain the IHP fibre backing washer..Thirths had argued against this...but the seal was moving without it..see picture
3. then warm the seal a bit using hot water and install on adapter ...very similar to fixing a tyre on a rim...
4. i had only cleaned the chamber..the seal was a comfortable fit...

somehow the shooting is smoother too..

regards

Thanks for the feedback Jeetesh. You still can remove the retaining washer. May be clean the tap of piston and then try. The Adapter is made to go fully and tightly.
See the seal is self lubed therefore friction less one. The retaining washer is not. If you remove the washer, you can eliminate unnecessary friction and also gain some extra volume :)
