It could be between 60 to 80 thousand depending on whether you directly import from the company or buy it from a club. Maybe more depending on the model you select. You might want to try out the IHP compressed air pistol to begin with or find out whether you like the sport.

jitu: Read Shankar's post reviewing the IHP PCP pistol. All the information you want is there.
Shankar was kind enough to let me try it out the other day and my feeling is that it's worth every penny.

Dear Jitu Sati,
I wish to advice you the following;
1. What is your goal in taking up air pistol shooting- Is it just fun or you wish to take part in shooting competitions?
If it is just fun, then go for the IHP, if you wish to get into competitive shooting go for the best air pistol in the market- Steyr, Morini.
2. The next most important step, is to identify a proper coach. In India, a shooter who has shot for a week considers himself qualified to 'coach' a beginner who has taken up the sport a few days later.
3. To identify a good coach ask him/her the following questions;
a) How long have you been in the sport?
b) What has been your best score at the NATIONALS.
c) Are you a ISSF or NRAI qualified coach ? Please show your certificate?
d) How many students have you coached? How many are shooting at the National or International level and what are their score?
Safe answers:
a) At least 5 years
b) Minimum 560/600 in Air Pistol
c) Self expainatory
d) At least 5 shooters, shooting at the National level anything between 340-360/400 will do.
Those who pass the above test , you can safely go to him or her for coaching, otherwise you will WASTE your time.

hey guys thanks for the advice. i am starting late but i have never done anything just for fun. you never achieve anything without competing. but until i know how well i am suited for this sport should i buy a morini/ steyr especially in view of their tremendous price.

Hi,
One inexpensive way would be to go to a range and try the air pistols available. You can then make up your mind what you want to do. Another reasonably cheaper alternative is the IZH Baikal 46M, most people don't buy it cause its not very fancy and rather nose heavy. And you have to shape the grips to fit your hand. The pistol however can take you to any level you want to reach long as u practise enough.
Read about it by googling it, there is an ornery doc sawbones who now also fashions seals for it and is going to the nationals with it. There are atleast three of us who own this pistol and outshoot people with Morinis and Steyrs.
