Hello Friends,
I am planning to get a Cannon Air rifle from Kolkatta through a friend and want to ship the air rifle from Kolkatta to Chennai . I want to know if anyone has shipped airguns from Kolkatta or from anywhere in India along with cost figures if possible.
I have Gati in mind and will have to call them up today, just in case they reject, I want to have backups.
Also suggest a good packaging strategy to get it through in one piece. I was thinking of a wrapping the gun in bubble wrap and then placing it in a cardboard carton filled with paper shreds or something of that sort.
Please Help!
cheers!
Ragav

Bump!
Please guys ... it's kind of urgent. I finally called Gati and confirmed. They seem to be ok with it but they say they are not experienced enough to suggest a packing. they did however suggest Insurance to make sure everything is sure. have no clue how much they charge with insurance!
Thanks
Ragav

Insurance is usually based on the cost of the product.
It shouldnt be more than 4% if im not mistaken.
they will usually provide the information about the insurance - best - ask them.
It might vary from courier to courier.

regards packing, I can only suggest what I do when I post airguns:
i. remove stock from action. make sure you either screw the trigger guard back in, or make a jig /jugaad of sorts to protect the trigger
ii. find a long enough cardboard box to fit both. else two cardboard boxes/cartons.
iii. enclose the action in polythene...a few long packets torn to form sheets would do.
iv. layer it with bubble wrap, if you can lay your hands on any.
v. put the action/stock in the carton, and surround with raddi newspaper liberally all around till the gun does not move whatever you do to the carton.
hope this helps
