Diana 35 vs the IHP 35B, a photo comparison

The IHP is 2008 manufacture and the Diana is 1968. This version of Diana is more heftier than another slimmer model which looks a bit like the Diana 27.

It is very clear that the IHP is not a direct copy of the Diana 35. It is however heavily based on the Diana.
The person who got the IHP 35 going should be commended for a job well done. I wish they had drawn inspiration from the Diana 45 instead of the 35 which never broke the 800fps barrier, considered to be the lowest minimum fps for magnum springers in the mid and late 70s.

In my opinion no parts on both can be interchanged.

Overall length for both guns is around 45 inches

The Diana muzzle is crowned the IHP is not

Image

The Barrel lengths are slightly different

Image

Breech blocks, different shapes. The cocking link is removable on the Diana 35 only

Image

Trigger guards, again different. IHP one is not even blued

Image

Butt group. The IHP one has a raised cheek piece

Image

Recoil pad or Butt plate. Diana is rubber, IHP is plastic

Image

The raised cheek piece on the IHP is prominent. IHP stock design appears better

Underside view of cocking lever and its cavity in the stock

Image

The rear sights I rant so much about. Diana one is 90% plastic, IHP is all metal but needed a lot of work

Image

Breech and barrel locking detent. Diana has a Ball, IHP has a chisel

Image

Compression tube with trigger, cocking lever and barrel

So thats it friends.

The Diana 35 is a Diana 35 and the IHP 35 is an IHP 35

Good one! I know it's a bit of an ask, but any chance of a comparison of the internals? The piston, washer, spring, guide, trigger etc.

Cheers!

GOOD WORK dude,

The basic difference between any IHP & RWS product is the build quality - accuracy & precision of the build, durability of the product, shooting accuracy & consistency and the after sale service & availability of maintainance parts(although we Indians don't really get the last part)

RWS is any mans dream machine who has a legitimate shooting appetite...

while

IHP is a poor man's NANO...

I want to take apart the D35 for a lube and tune. So definitely at that time I will take care of the internals. Just want doc to be around when I take it apart. A bit scared of not being able to put the trigger assembly back together.

Spot on, but there is nothing we can do about IHP. On the other hand makes like Agni are getting better and better. Beats IHP hands down in workmanship. IHP definitely has manufacturing and QC problem.

Good memory buddy! :) ...but that was a comparison of the IHP 25 (.22 cal current manufacture) and a Diana 25 (.22 cal 1970's manufacture). Let me see if I can dig it up....

Cheers!

That article is in the Gunsmith section, several pages deep. It is the source of inspiration for me do this D35 vs the IHP35.

Diana 35 Internals

Here are all the metal parts

Image

Here is the close up the internal parts

The entire assembly is extremely complicated and although an engineering ingenuinity, it is a servicing nightmare for the uninitiated.

If you have a D35 or D27 think twice before diving in.

Putting it back was frustrating, but will do it gladly again.

I'm in India for 2 weeks, and an old friend gave me his Diana 35. It works ok, but I couldn't help but see what can be made better. So I'm stripping the stock and refinishing it, and cleaning the internals up a bit. I didn't want to start without a breakdown of the gun, so I found one and am posting it here, in case others can use it as well.
