Hi Ifgians :)
I read in a forum saying that shortening of spring powered air rifle barrel will reduce the Lock time and can improve the accuracy but it may affects the choke in the Barrel. Most of air pressure is utilised within 9"-12" to Boost up the pellets.Have any one tried This ? what is Barrel Harmonics does reduction of lenght affects it?
Any input on this topic is highly appreciated

Thanks
sankar

Sankar,

According to the gurus for springers, shorter is better. For Pneus and CO2s, longer is better.
Here are the details

The barrel on my SPAR is considerably shorter than the IHP 35 or Diana 35. The SPAR barrel is a Hammerli, so its difficult for me to to say if its the length or the make that's influencing accuracy in my case.

I intend to procure a spare .177 IHP 35 barrel and play with it. But thats some time away.

Sitar,

You might have to sacrifice the rifle too. If you have an IHP that's pretty okay power. If you have a foreign one then get yourself a suitable tuning kit.

Normally unless you really know what you are doing it's not worth the time and the labour.
