What is the MIN FPS req. for shooting straight and accurate

Rafiki,

I had earlier shot my Diana 35 in .177 from a rest at a range of 30 mtrs and all shots went where intended.
That makes me wonder,

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM FPS REQUIRED FOR SHOOTING STRAIGHT AND ACCURATE AT A RANGE OF 50 YARDS.

The max range in HFT is 45 yds (135 ft) My guess is my Diana 35 with 550fps is good enough, but I never managed to shoot out to 50 yards on the terrace for safety reasons.

If I am correct the IHP 35 in .177 with a silver soldered scope rail (not cut grooves as the compression tube wall is only 2mm thick) and a springer rated (Leapers ? Bushnell ? Norconia ?) 4-12x40 scope on a single piece mount is THE Indian HFT kit.

Opinions ?

M.

@FF
The specs u mentioned seem to be not enough for HFT. In UK HFT airguns used have 12fpe limit n yet r effective at max range of 55 yards assuming that they r tuned barely upto the 12fpe limit. An IHP 35 at 550fps using 10 grain pellet will produce only about 6.5fpe ME. So it would be ineffective for ranges upto 55 yards.With a 8 grain pellet u require the airgun to generate >800fps velocity to have 12fpe ME.

I am told the new IHP 35 does close to or even 700fps in .177
I think it will manage shooting straight upto 50 yards.

Any idea when IHP started using synthetic washers ? From which serial numbers ? Can you ask the Doc ?
