Hi folks can anyone offer me advice on a choice beyween a .177 cal gamo cfx and a RWS(not diana) model 48 airguns.the cfx has lower MV versus the mod 48 which assumably manages 1100 fps in .177.im keen on coments of people who are already using these airguns-issues like velocity,cocking effort,ease of loading,accuracy,loudness,weight,field use,avaialibility of spares ,build quality and certain other comments like supertuning of the gamo cfx including the the grt III trigger mod and of course in the last cost effectiveness since the rws is almost 1.5 times the cfx.thanks

It's like comparing apples and oranges. While the CFX with a GRT III is a ~900 fps, very accurate shooter at a great price, the RWS 460 is a different world altogether when you compare the fit and finish. The power and accuracy of the RWS is but obvious. Some people do not like the hollow synthetic stock of the Gamo. Recently, there have been lot of issues with the QC of the CF-X and many pieces had to be returned to factory and hence you will see that most of the online dealers have it on back-order.

You can also consider the BAM B40, an under-lever rifle which is a copy of the TX200 at half the price. It has a great crisp trigger and very powerful and accurate.

I agree with Yash. May be Hatsan Torpedo can be the right one to be compared with. Both are heavy and harsh with lots of recoil. Both have good safety features and well, thery are accurate too on bench. Offhand, its a pain.

The fit and finish of the RWS 48 is definitely superior than the Gamo CFX. Best thing to do would be to try both out and then decide for yourself. The CFX is an underlever airgun whereas the RWS 48 is a side lever. IF you decide on the RWS 48, would it not be sensible to extend your budget slightly more and try to buy a RWS 54? Also, if you are not fixed on these two brands, look at the Weihrauchs and the Airarms range. It's not everyday that you decide to pick up an airgun. Go ahead and try to pick the best one possible. considering comments by yash are gamo cfx really sub standard.i know they are light fit for field use therefore and quite accurate.any other lighter comparable model

Gamo cfx+grt-3 trigger rocks when it comes to fixed barrel springer ,it can perform next to tx200,hw 97k in accuracy ,also under 250$

*cfx gives more than 750fps with 8.5 gr pellets, its a 11fpe gun

Apart from adding a grt 3 trigger any other tuning which is required for a cfx. my friens at usa will handle that.any suggestions where it can be done in the usa

Andy...I have a Gamo CFX .177 cal....yes the synthetic stock is boring...the one I have is a CFX Royal...with a beechwood stock...the gun is accurate and responds well with P10 Gsmith pellets...pellet selection has to be carefully made...improper fits may cause it to diesel...even the Gamo Pro Magnums didnt work well...and as Striker rightly put it..you must learn to handle it well..the spring twang is very obvious...tuning with a Vmach kit is advisable....cocking is a breeze...pellet loading is lousy....the gun breaks in only at about 1500 shots..the trigger becomes easier only then and velocity improves...a GRT trigger is a good idea if you cannot wait that long...the CFX with wooden stock is much heavier than the one with synthetic...I shoot mostly kneeling...Off hand is almost impossible with a scope mounted...I get my spares online from James Maccarri and TW Chambers..spares are mostly breech seals and E3650 Tarantula main springs...the CFX is not as powerful as the RWS..I know because I have an M54 .22cal...accuracy is comparable....the RWS M54 will dislodge most scopes from its rail due its sliding rail mechanism...mine is now tamed ...after using a DN460 leapers weaver base and weaver rings with a Diana 4 x 32 magnum scope...of the two I like the heavier RWS M54 more

connected with this issue can someone advise me if it would be feasible to import ELEY MAGNUM BULLETS in .22 cal fit for high power PCPs if i plan to get along a PCP also (with customs chaps here).

of the two, which one will you buy again Jeetesh if given a chance?

I have tried m54 the worst field factors are very heavy,loading port not so friendly if antibear trap fails,barrel droop.

Thirths.....if given a chance Id buy the M54 again...this gun was on paper from pellet 1....somehow the weight of the gun suits me....

Striker...the antibear trap as you rightly put it..is the main concern...I must keep in mind at all times that im indeed loading the pellet and that the action could start Off accidently...the barrel droop is eliminated by means of using a leapers weaver type base mount...with 17.1'' upward compensation...

I dont have a .177 in Gamo but have a .22 ( not synthetic stock) got last year for 200 euros. Worth every penny. It is very accurate and the gama magnum pellets go well with it (have fired more than 1500 rounds and still is as good as new). Gamo is worth its price, if you can spend more then of course you have more options.

Hello all,
Was quite keen on getting a Gamo CFX with a GTR 3 trigger, however the rifle is not in stock in most onlien shops. Was wondering if i should go for a RWS 34 panther pro compact in case the CFX remains unavailable(was the closest thing in the price range and shooting characterstics). Personally will prefer a CFX as it is a fixed barrel and is quite a decent package for the price. However in case it doesn't become available soon i am willing to switch over to a repalcement.. Any suggestions ??
