Hi to all..I have just joined in..Your site is god sent gift for air rifle enthusiast like me..I own a Webley Scott .22 Mark II Air rifle and couple of Indian make .22 air rifles..I am using these air rifles for target shooting and pest control. Just a couple of months back I joined my state Air rifle association and regularly go for 10m Target practice ( U can call it Bindra effect LOL..I get to use Feinwerkbau and Diana Air rifles out there..But now I am planning to buy my own .177 Pneumatic Air rifle with Peep sight..I want to use it for target practice at my home and may be for district level competition..Also I want to use it for killing pests. From what I have read in the previous threads I have learnt that IHP's National series Pneumatic Air rifle is the only one that is made and sold in India..I want to put forward following questions to all the Gurus of Indians for Guns...

1> I know National Pneumatic rifle is no match to Diana and Feinwerkbau but is it good enough for State level competitions? Any made in India alternative to the above mentioned National Pneumatic Air rifle?

2> Whats the approx cost of the above mentioned Air rifle?

3> I am interested in the peep sight version..I guess from the pictures that I have seen on IHP's website the above mentioned Air rifle has got a rail mount..can I fit a scope on it in case I am using the gun for hunting?

4> My brother is coming from U.S in Feb '09..is it legal to bring Air rifle scopes/red dot/infra red scope from U.S to India?

Any help on the above mentioned queries will be highly appreciated..!!

Hi Nishith,

Welcome on board.

Just wait a little longer and you should be able to get the compressed air rifle (PCP) from IHP National. It will be good enough for state level competitions. Here is the pic

2> Whats the approx cost of the above mentioned Air rifle?

I am waiting for that too....

3> I am interested in the peep sight version..I guess from the pictures that I have seen on IHP's website the above mentioned Air rifle has got a rail mount..can I fit a scope on it in case I am using the gun for pest control?

Yes it will have peepsight. It will have the scope rail, the peep sight is fitted onto it. So I mounting a scope should be okay BUT.....It will do a max of 500fps so it is not at all suitable for pest control. In fact its a big No No with the IHP PCP or the Pneumatic (which is 500fps also)

4> My brother is coming from U.S in Feb '09..is it legal to bring Air rifle scopes/red dot/infra red scope from U.S to India?

I'd say scope should not be a problem but better search through the forums and you should be able to get a definite answer

1. The existing National Pneumatic is kinds OK to start of with. Should suffice the State championships, minus the added weight, a lil imbalance, no cheek rest adjustment .. but the accuracy is not so bad, although a lot lesser then the Feins and Ansches...
2. It should cost roughly a little below 10K INR, but now has a waiting of more than 3 months. You should send a DD to the IHP, Ahmedabad address, and they will give you a tentative time frame for delivery. Any additional rise in prices should be covered during delivery time.
3. You can fix a scope, which sits well; one without bothering the cocking/loading.
4. My dad got me a Bushnell scope a few months back, without any problem. There are several other threads on this...
.. Hope this helps:)
PM me if you want IHP address/contact name and numbers...
