dear Friends...is there any restriction for importing airgun parts such as springs, seals etc.,

Except airgun barrel other parts like seals,spring ...can be imported

This seems to be a grey area. I have some CO2 capsules that have arrived at the postal customs. The Appraising Officer, a newbie, is attempting to put that in 'Others' category and detain it. After 3 weeks of consideration and consulting with his seniors, he has informed me over the phone that the final decision is to detain it, and issue a show cause notice (which I am awaiting since 4 days now). There is no specific mention of airgun parts, and so they CAN be treated in 'others' where restrictions apply. As for CO2, I am certain to either make a press issue of it, or get it released as CO2 is categorically mentioned in Chapter 28 as 'free'-

2811 21 Carbon dioxide:
2811 21 10 Dry ice Free
2811 21 90 Other Free

AND one of the three cartons sent together has reached me without any hinderance, so the customs department will look sheepish when asked to explain the disparity. A press reporter will be on the job as soon as my show cause notice arrives. I'll post the story after the climax!

If a notification says nothing about an item that is restricted, it means that the item remains restricted. As for .177, await DGFT notification or other details for clarity on who can import, how much, and how, with relevant procedure. Logically, the same conditions that apply to .177 calibre airguns/air pistols should apply, but things don't always work logically in our system, as you can see from the delay in dealing with pellet import- as far as the powers that be are concerned, we can win medals by shooting air from our air guns! I wonder what import restrictions apply for castles in the air.

well said Ai...I dont know what im doing with these imported guns of mine...no pellets...no springs/seals/breech seals....no scopes....think I was happy with my low range IHPs...

I spoke to the Appraising Officer today to ask about my notice. He said it been sent long back, but in any case I am requested to visit for a Personal Hearing and the officers concerned will take a 'lenient view' and 'finalize' the matter.

I'll go on Monday or Wednesday.

I'm not sure of the procedure, but 'free' means no licence should be required. I do know that packing and shipping requirements need to be met. These are-
