King Rat?

Got an absolute corker of a rat yesterday, on my regular kill-zone/feeding station. The beast was crouched, rear end towards me, so I couldn't even see his head, busy as he was with the remains of my butter-chicken Masala (cheers China Town!). So after a few moments of sitting with the glowing red-dot on his bristling backside, I remembered an old trick from my squirreling days in the UK. I made a little clucking noise and of course, King Rat lifted his head. About then, the lead pellet struck him, just behind his left ear. He did the rat dance of death, his muscular hind legs kicking frantically on the dimly lit concrete. I took a picture of him beside a full large-size loaf of Family Pride bread. He's the same size. I mean his body, without tail, is the length and breadth of that loaf. His taile adds another foot to his length. A monster. Love to post the photo. Anyone help me out with that?

Here's the gun I'm using here in Goa. It may not be the most powerful air rifle I've ever used, but with airguns, I feel accuracy will always trump power anyway. I use the scope for target shooting and the red-dot for rats, which is often sillouette shooting.
Cheers

Here's one I prepared earlier, as Delia Smith used to say. This one, at about 18 inches in length, is only a tiddler compared to the 'Family Pride Rat' pictured above. But he was a wily rodent, leading me quite a merry dance!

And here's a scene reminscent of a wild-west saloon. Who shot first? Was it self defense? Some say it was an argument over a card game.

Thanks guys. Perhaps we'll organize a 'Beach Rat-Shooting Weekend' sometime. I can see a coach-load of IFGers arriving in Goa clutching rifle-bags and trying to get all the ground-floor rooms at guest houses.

And you’re doing something absolutely legal under Indian law
. No one can accuse you
. Good shooting. BTW from what distance did you take out these ravaging beasts?

This thread looks like its beginning to move again, i shoot rats too but mine are no more than a foot from nose to tip of tail, but i don't go on a rat hunting party, i just shoot them at home. Maybe hunting king rats is satisfying.

Good heavens! That is a sizable beast! He's about getting to the point that one would want to make the first shot count, for more reasons that not wanting him to get away. I'll bet this guy was one mean hombre in the neighborhood!
Thanks for sharing.
