Query on IHP mod 35 .22cal,
1.Hello everybody , i have an IHP mod 35 .22cal , version , well i see a lot of drop in the pellets occasionally depending on the range, so to zero in on the target i turn the the dial so as to that i lift it from 0 till 9 , i practice target shots at 18 - 20 meters range, but the drop of the pellet varies on every single shot is there any specific technique by which i can put a good use of the dial calibration ?
2.A month ago i also had my rifles wooden stock broken while taking it in the car, it was separated from the main part , so i took it to a gunsmith at BLR , he said hel charge me 700 bucks for fixing it,i turned down his service and so i set up a quick fix by my own efforts using Araldite and Leukoplast for holding it , now i see that the rifle is back in shape and is good to use , so pls give me some suggestions as to how to keep the rifle in my home and while traveling
3. I found better target hits with GSmith high splits ,so does any one have experience with GSmith pellets, pls suggest me the best pellets suited for The IHP 35.
also to add the EverReady pen light is pretty good it fits perfectly to the end of the barrel when rigged with a insulated tape , i have scored good hits in total darkness at 10 to 15 mts range

Re: Query on IHP mod 35 .22cal,
the IHPs have some basic manufacturing defects..for low hits....the reason could be....the C section under the receiver which holds the stock screws is hot plugged on to it...comes off in due course....spot weld this area...bore larger 6mm holes, tap and use philips gold screws with some loctite....use loctite on the trigger guard front screw as well which also holds the receiver...observe whether the breech block is popping up when shooting...because in most IHPs the locking mechanism doesnt hold..reason for more low hits...try a slightly oversized synthetic O ring instead of the regular leather breech seal...or replace the locking pins....the IHP .22 does not like heavy pellets like the dome heads....try Gsmiths' high speed or pointed head ones instead...a gun must be in good shape...Rs700 is okay for the stock...go for it...believe me Ive shot accurately upto 50m with .22 B35 and .177B25 with little holdover...

Re: Query on IHP mod 35 .22cal,
If every pellet drops inconsistently, then there could be a problem with your aiming/holding/leakage inn the rifle. I would suggest you do a bench test for 5 meters, 10, and 15. Ensure that you get a grouping from 5 meters onwards. If you bench the stock well, you will eliminate the possibility of a bad hold/aiming. If you still get variations in the grouping, then its time for the rifle's surgeryRex1586";p="57495 wrote: 1....well i see a lot of drop in the pellets occasionally depending on the range, so to zero in on the target i turn the the dial so as to that i lift it from 0 till 9 , i practice target shots at 18 - 20 meters range, but the drop of the pellet varies on every single shot is there any specific technique by which i can put a good use of the dial calibration ?

C'mon.. would you really need to be told about thisRex1586";p="57495 wrote: 2....so pls give me some suggestions as to how to keep the rifle in my home and while traveling.

.. buy a gun case!
GSmith is pretty good and probably the best in Indian standards. Use the G.Smith High Impact "Smooth" pellets. I have found this to be a good fit and accurate enough for mine and other IHPs.Rex1586";p="57495 wrote: 3. About the Ever-Ready .. well if it works good for you, then great. Although I would prefer that the light stay on a non moving part of the rifle (like the right side of the stock) instead of the barrel which you have to move between every shot...

Is it only drop or does the pellet stray horizontally also.
The only reason I asked is cause you mentioned a broken stock. If the rifle recoils differently your groups will suffer. Similar to having loose stock screws.
Also check whether the sights have come loose.
Is the rifle dieseling?
If all of the above are negative then it could be a real problem like the ones mentioned in the other posts.
About G-Smith, I use only those in my IHP .22 and I second Tenx - The Domed ones work best for me. The hollow points coming a close second. The hollow points (High Split) are a li'l less tight too.
Do post us your findings.

The tape looks like a wound and I almost wanted to wish a speedy recovery
I have a suggestion. If you find a good copper wire, I suggest you wind it around the 'wound' extending it all the way to the bottom of the grip. Benefits would be that the tape does not get weak and expanded due to sweat; will add to holding the broken stock; and additionally, act as a good grip ..

Re: Query on IHP mod 35 .22cal,
Hey TenX , good advice , but the leukoplast is very good though it looks like a wound it is a very good hand grip, as a matter of fact it has improved the dexterity, it will get dirty with time then it will get a brown color since i do a lot of field use, but as of now the rifle is completely healed
,
actually my targets positioning was wrong i used to hit ragets on the ground not elevated more than a feet above the ground so the pellets used to dip a lot , now i placed the pellets on a 4 ft high wood plank , so i got better results , i also forgot to inform u guys im using a G Smith spring got it changed recently, well its a lot better than the old IHP spring, once i had borrowed some target sheets from a good friend of mine , well here are the results with no9 on the rear sight dial, also some pics of what a mod 35 can do at 20 mts.

Review on G smith pellets
1. High Split (Hollow point)- good light weight , more effective on hard targets , good aerodynamics + good impact
2.High Speed (Pointed Head)- good on tin cans and soft targets , Best if you want through and through shots
3. High Force (Flat head)- good for paper punching ,bad for long distance shots
Review on Marshall Pellets :
Pls dont bother buying them, because those pellets swing a lot , they are dangerous since the pellets stray a lot, a i have shot them at 10 mts ,1st of all those pellets don't hit the targets appropriately on top of that those pellets ricochet like hell , several near miss near my face , so i have started to wear goggles while plinking

Not bad at all
Also, I agree on the Marshall pellets. Once you use G.Smith, you will throw away your Marshall lot... although I have'nt
