I was doing some research and found a particular site selling collimator sights.

1. How is this different from a normal scope.
2. Are the two replaceable/inter changeable in use.
3. Is it that scopes are for long distance while a collimator sight is for short distance.
4. What are the benefits of a scope over a collimator sight(if any)

According to my knowledge / books :
1) Collimator sight as compared with the standard iron sights decreases the aiming time by more than three times with increasing of aiming accuracy twice as high.
2) When used with night vision goggles of G-14 type the sight ensures accurate fire in the twilight and at night.

Please correct me if I'm wrong !
I think Its not legal in India.

AFAIK it's simply a red dot sight... and no it's not illegal in India.

Yep Red Dots are great for point-shoot situations. Tactical shooting games like paint ball or air-soft would give you two such 'maritime' scenarios to put a red dot to good use.

Its primary use is with situations where you need to put maximum number of shots downrange/on target within a short timespan and the target is/are at close quarters (they don't offer magnification as an option). A scope as we all know is very different , so lets not compare the twain diskaon ( I like that sound a lot ) .

As others have already said, that is simply a red dot sight with a 2 minute dot (sized to cover 2" at 100 yards).

Red dot sights have their uses, but IMHO they are unreliable outside in the afternoon as the dot is invisible if the sun is behind you. In the woods they are handy and quick though. We had one set up on the 22 my kids use for squirrel hunting but changed over to a scope.

I used one for Bullseye target shooting where it worked perfectly, but I changed back to opens as after a bit of thought my goals in shooting were to become a better shot and not necessarily just post higher scores.
