Dear Sirs
I recently purchased a Gamo CFX Royal .177cal air rifle from an armoury shop in Hyderabad....shot almost a thousand pellets with....the gun seems to have broken in by now...all I want to know is...how long will the main spring last...I'm not too sure if replacing the main spring of the gun with Indian ones as suggested by the shop owner will perform with the same power....also can someone advise me on how to import these components and get it tuned/fixed by a good gunsmith in India...I would be extremely grateful .....the gun really cost me and I really want it to last....thank you

do not go by shop owner's word.
your spring will last till 700~7000 shots.
Better replace it by this one.

import cost is $14 upto $80 purchase.
You got to use good lube while replacing the mainspring and moly is a must.

CFX is great valued rifle. It won the New York State HFT Championship in 2005
It is a great shooter. Not as powerful as diana but powerful enough to kill a crow at 50 m. Moreover you don't need expensive scope to fit in as this gun has very little recoil.
Lastly, it is very easy to shoot and hit target that means not at all hold sensitive.
Another advantage: you can put two pallets at a time. One inside the barrel another can be kept in the rotary breech for quick shooting.
Gsmith competition is good one. Wash and dry it. You will be amazed with the performance.

you guys are amazing....the speed at which you reply...I never knew that there were such enthusiasts in India..yes I know that I paid a lot for the gun...but I just wanted to own it badly....the CFX trigger I believe becomes easier after a break in....if it doesnt I will go in for the GRT3....I shoot on Sundays at my factory range...this time I'll wash and dry the P10 pellets before shooting...I agree with you tht this gun is not hold sensitive...any more precious info that you have with you...kindly share...the only other imported gun I have is an RWS54 Air King...which I have not used much...not much problem with this gun....22cal...recoiless...shoots well beyond 80m....likes heavy dome head pellets...have not tested it for accuracy at 80m...this I bought from GSmith, Pune...he promised services like tuning, spares etc...the reason I did'nt ask...would like to share something on this gun.....

CFX likes light weight pallets.
Competition is very accurate and matching somewhat the recommended weight.
I don't know weight of P-10 so not sure if this is good for cfx.
By the way, have you tried to insert two pallets together in the gun?

Oh! I thought P10 is the same as competition...nevertheless I shall buy competition instead...I shoot on sundays only at the factory range....I'll try the pellet inserts then...one question...will the waiting pellet flip back when the gun is fired? also can you suggest some general maintenance tips for the CFX....jeetesh

First the tips:
1. Do not fire while rotary breech opened. You may break the mainspring and the breech seal.
2. Use the second pallet as a pusher so the 1st pallet seat tightly inside the barrel. Otherwise while taking a high shot your pallet may flip back and it will dry fire which cause detonation and it will bad for your compression chamber.
3. Never put oil inside your gun. It will never ask for. You can wipe your gun with a plain (or acid free silicon oil) cloth after use otherwise acid from your hand will make your gun rusty.
Last but not the least: Always lock trigger before you cock the gun. make it as a habit.

thks Thirtha...in an earlier thread you had mentioned the spring life as 700 to 7000...subject to proper usage...what could be the average life of this spring...
