I just got myself a new Beeman P1. I got it on wed, but havent yet down down to shooting. the P1 is in .177cal. any advice on cleaning the barrel before i start shooting. this is the first time that i am using a new pistol. so far all the pistols that i have shot have been used. thus i am taking it easy initially. looking forward to hearing from you all.
regards
Parag.

Parag,
Have a look at

You needn't clean an airgun or rimfire bore everytime you use it. You could clean the P1 barrel after 1 or 2 tins (of 500 pellets) or when the groups begin to open up.
Keep the visible o-rings supple with a light application of silicone grease. A drop of moly oil at the hinge points and wipe the pistol down with an oil rag after each use. Do not use the oily rag on the wooden grips unless the oil is something like Ballistol. I would highly recommend Ballistol. Look it up on the net.

Mack The Knife,
just for knowledge, why should the wooden grips not be cleaned using an oil rag.

Normal gun oil will spoil wooden grips and stocks.
