A bit of info for them who did not see this gun. This is my first purchase in 1987 paid Rs.700 odd. It was laying there in my parents’ house with its broken stock. Last year I got it back in my place and fixed it with araldite and changed the main spring. The gun was breaking slowly and started showing accuracy and suddenly while cocking the muzzle slipped and Cr-a-c-k!!! The stock completely separated from the gun. No way I can fix it back

I almost made up my mind to make a stock by miself

Went to market a got a light and strong wood(6x36"). Measured everything and about to start. Suddenly thought, before starting the big work let’s try to fix the broken one and perhaps that would be easy

Dissemble the stock from the gun. Put the both piece into the vise with a great difficulty. Drilled them together with 3/8 drill bit. Made some saw dust. Mixed with araldite and used it to join the stock together. And then pushed an iron rod mixed with araldite through the hole and kept it overnight and then sanding, polishing etc. Wow! No one can believe that it ever broken.

The above is the end of part one.

In part two.. I did a major tuning in the gun. Deburred and mirror polished the compression chamber, buttoned the piston, polished the spring and guide. Used silicone grease on the piston and chamber. Molly on spring head and on main spring a mixture of molly and bearing grease (white) etc..

Now the gun is free from vibration and POI says it is not less than 800 fps.

And about accuracy in 15 yards??

Top two was due to bloody mosquito but not bad to see.

Using silicone grease where there is metal to metal contact will scour the metal surface. Remove it and replace it with moly.

Are those groups from a rest or off-hand ? You should post pics of the stock too. Looks like you got a good shooter there.

Thanks for the pointer Rustom. I kept metal to metal contact in mind and applied molly but no molly on the leather seal and the compression chamber. You see the Piston is buttoned therefore no metal to metal contact:)

HSharief, 10~15 yards, I don't use any support . I will post the pic in the evening as I put the battery on charging station.

Tell me, does having the additional rod and adding more weight give better balance, since more weight is on the user's end?

TenX, frankly I don't see much diffrence except the smooth feeling while gripping due to sanding and polishing. But you are right, if the weight getting added towards the end of the buttplate I think the stability will improve.

I used to make some modifications for pistol grips, and am happy to say that some of them have come out pretty well.
If you mix an ample quantity of saw dust (medium size) to a small quantity of fevicol and water, apply this paste to a roughed surface of the grip, you will get a very nice rough feel. You can even press your (little wet) hand onto the setting coat of putty for a customized grip.

Here is a close up of the grip I made me... I used saw dust and fevicol as mentioned above. Note the perfect bonding between grip and palm

However I am not sure, if our hand like to hold rough surface or semirough or smooth. I personally found I like to hold all this type of surface in diffrent time. For hammer, I like rough surface as because it slipps. for pc mouse, the smoother would be better. For gun where you hand will control trigger, the smoother would be better.

What I have observed is that we dont need real rough finishing at where the finger contacts. But for other regions of the palm, a little roughness gives a better grip.
Talking about rough, its noway 'prickly' or 'hurtfu'. Its just not smooth, thats all
And I would'nt advise sawdust on PC Mouse anyways

I need to work on my air pistol's grip with the sawdust and fevicol trick. Need a tad more on the paw side.

Dev, it's equal amounts of fine river sand to fine saw dust mixed with Fevicol.
