Under lever/side cocking

Post by p_sircar » Wed Aug 27, 2008 8:00 pm

Dear friends,
I wanted to buy a Diana 460 Magnum through a dealer. He hag a Mod.54 in stock."The best" I agree, but he added that a "Underlever" is more trouble prone than a "side cocking".Could any one tell me if this is true?

I would rather prefer an underlever than a sidelever.

The mechanism of my Diana 54 keeps coming off the stock and i have to tighten the screw each time.

I had bought a Diana Mod.54 but got rid of it within a month when I compared it with Diana Mod.52 that I already possessed. I hated the crudely engineered recoil reducing system of 54. Lesser the moving parts, the better. As for under lever gun that P_S mentioned, The dealer would have said the same for a side lever if he had had an under lever in stock.

I'm surprised to read about the negative experiences about the Mod-54. I just loved it- I've used two of them and never had any problems. The recoil system does work to let the pellet leave the muzzle before it can be affected by the recoil. Do let us know your thoughts and experience after you get your new rifles, with regards to accuracy.

There's nothing to choose. Go for the HW77k (carbine version).

Thanks Friends,
Made up my mind. Its HW77K for me.
Trying to locate a dealer near Denver colorado,so my son can pick up one and courier it to me.

Located some dealers advertising Beeman HW 77markII. I think its the same story like RWS and Diana.
Please let me know, if otherwise.
