who said hw is underpower??
please be little presice as hw have many models etc..
what do u want to compare
i think 177 gives more speed than 22
and 22 gives more muzzel energy.
max vel can be your choice
for 10 m targeting vel is highly needed(not to the extend of super sonic)
if you are using .25 for vermint game you do not need it much
BTW nice topic

Underpowered for what? What is the purpose of your gun? varmint hunting, general plinking, target?

The Feinwerkbau airguns are built for one purpose and one purpose only - 10m air rifle target shooting! At which task they excel... few shooters would even be able to realise the inherent accuracy potential of these rifles.
On the other hand the HW series by Weihrauch is more for general purpose shooting/ pest control/ hunting small critters. In their target market their guns are renowned for their accuracy and even their power. One of the best power/ accuracy combinations in a spring piston air-rifle is the HW80 / HW80K. Quite simply a rifle against which all others are measured!
Velocity in airguns is a misleading measure. It says little about the guns actual power potential and nothing at all about the potential accuracy. A much better measure for the power hungry brigade is the muzzle energy figure of course combined with accuracy. After all a miss with a 30 ft/lb air-rifle is just as good as a miss with a 3 ft/lb air-rifle! Power without accuracy means absolutely nothing.
Cheers!

Damn it, Abhijeet! Here I was hoping that all our resident experts would dis the FWBs and HWs permitting me to buy more at reasonable prices and you go and foil my plan.
Feel like carding you for that!

me too, was hoping for a dissed out HW8oK at a fire sale!
whats to compare? A 4000fpe big bore missing DG at 30 yards or 12fpe airgun missing a bandicoot at 10m?
If you are correlating the bullet drop due to a slow bullet as inaccuracy, then the gun in question needs to be regulated for that load and range.
However, its not discounting the 22LR made by IOFB which miss the powder chute and come out powderless and on firing, are propelled out by primer power alone -damn, you can SEE that dream shot of yours fall out a few feet in front of the barrel

Would you believe that something similar had actually happened to a co-shooter in a match. He was using old Eley Club rounds... But it was not literally 'drop-out-of-the-barrel' types, but hit the post of the target - about 2 feet below the target in a 50m Prone event...
