Hi Guys,
I am a Newbie, never touched guns till the time :o my In law is a serious hunter and the bug has bitten me. When i enquired airguns at chennai it is very exuberantly priced a model called K.S.A very rough finish priced 3250 and mentioned as grooved bore and other brand called SPEED priced at 6650  Then i made my research and found this site and this is simply marvelous. The shopkeeper telling me the IHP factory is closed and you wont get anymore.
I am working at bangalore can you plz mention the price of IHP 35 .22 caliber gun and shop availability at bangalore. I stay at Airport road will be buying this week .
Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard Vijay! :)

Surely you mean WAS a serious hunter... hunting has been completely banned in India now...

Check out the following thread for the current MRP pricing of IHP models:

If the local shop quotes too a high price you can order it online at www.aimco.co.in (the owner is also a member here) OR send a PM to IFG member bandukbhandar - both of them will supply you IHP guns at a fair price.

Cheers!

Yes was a hunter...He surrendered his license. I am not interested in shooting rats and crows rather tin cans and leaves. I am going to the village this weekend so any known shops at bangalore with decent prices will do.
What is a grooved bore?

A grooved bore? I guess what you mean is a rifled barrel - as opposed to a "smooth bore" barrel. The spiral grooves of the rifling impart a spin to the projectile thus improving range and accuracy. Since India closely follows British traditions in terms of nomenclature a smooth bore would be a "gun" while a rifled bore would be a rifle - by extension we get "air-gun" & "air-rifle". Needless to say an air-rifle is infinitely preferable to an air-gun.

Asides from IHP all of the other airgun manufacturers are in the small scale sector and their manufacturing processes & quality control leave much to be desired. Not to say that IHP is a stellar product itself, it's simply the best of the (made in India) bunch...

Cheers!
Abhijeet

Hi Vijaycool,
Which part of Tamilnadu are you from? Never commit the mistake of buying an airgun in Chennai. AFAIK almost all the dealers here are selling it for ridiculous prices, except for one. PM me for more details. If you are so particular in buying an IHP airrifle, try Firearms Centre in Coimbatore. They are the TN dealers for IHP products.
Regards

Ebenezer

I saw "Grooved bore" imprinted on the air gun name KSA kolkatta. Its available in pioneer sports annasalai. Nevertheless fit and finish is too much to be desired and the person reluctantly shown the gun pissed me off. Then i checked over net and found this forum. When i enquired about National everyone telling me the company has been closed and i have few stocks left price is Rs 6650. If i have not found this site i would be a victim  After hearing the price my in-law told he got Vauxhall(not sure of the spelling) muzzle load for Rs 600.

hi , vijay. go through the airgun section & gunsmithing section before picking an airrifle. it helps in selecting the best one. check if there any mfg defect on rear sight & crowning. specified this because i have seen these on many guns at shops
