Need airgun buying advice

Post by ABABUJAY » Sun May 04, 2008 3:22 pm

HI EVERY ONE,
RECENTLY I LEARNT THAT IMPORT OF .177 AIR RIFILE IS POSSIBLE. thanx for the information. my doubt is
is it valid for pre charged pneumatic guns? if so
can i import a candor ( air force ) .177 caliber. and then import .22 barrel seperately thus converting it to a normal .22 candor rifile. i saw the live demo of conversion ( from youtube.com), the process is very simple. but will this conversion effect the performance ( velocity, accuracy ).any live experience, plzz suggest and ur valuble opinion needed. my mind is focused only on pcp, got fed up with spring powered rifiles
regards babu

Post by ABABUJAY » Sat May 17, 2008 1:16 am

dear seniors,
every day my urge to get a pcp gun grows, but as far as i know its hard to import a .22 caliber(candor). but i also learnt that we can convert .177 candor to .22 with a spare .22 barel which can b imported seperately, i ve already posted a request to know the performance(accuracy, velocity) after conversion, but still now no replies. i also have the following doubts
.......should i b a member to import a .177 air rifile(candor by air force)
.......i am 34, is it possible to shine in this sport at this age(of course i wanna b a ratore)
.......i want to join a rifile club in chennai,
( one guy told me that ive to pay 1lac as donation which is non refundable). so is there any member of rifile club in chennai who can guide me properly
.........what r the procedures to join a rifile club, should i b an IT assese?
.........wat r the eligibilites?
how much should i spend?
plzz send me ur valuble suggestions
regards babu

HI Babu.
I can give you some comments from my side, and the rest can be addressed by others in this forum.
1. Age is no criteria in shooting. As long as you are willing, you can surely achive great heights in shooting sports. However, all International matches in Air Rifle/Pistol are in .177 caliber only. So, I dont see a point in you wanting to own a .22. If your sight and general fitness is good, you can surely try well in Shooting Sports. I know quite a lot of National Team members who are much past your age' still learning; and still improving. THere are many in the International circuit, medal winners, who are much older than you. So, please keep the age criteria out of our head.
2. About joining a club, I only have advice to join the Karnataka State Rifle Association, whose detals are in www.ksra.in; You dont need to be a IT assessee; you should not have a criminal record; you should produce a vald address proof; and the cost of a life time membership is about 5ooo INR. But about Chennai, I have no clue. I will check wih some contacts I have in Chennai, members, and post a feedback again.
3. A candor is by no way any type of Shooting Match weapon. Its a great powerful gun, but can hardly be used for the ISSU type matches. Other seniors may post more comments on this.
A warm welcome to shooting and All the very best.

please check out the KG link on the left hand side, there u will find some good post on sport shooting.

if u want to go into sport shooting then as TenX say u have to have .177 not 22 airrifle.

ABABUJAY
chennai rifle club is one of the hard iron door without a
lakh .depending upon ur social status they rip 50,000rs to 1.5 lakh.
if u want to join crc(chennai rifle club) get the form in rani building near thinathanthi office in poonamalle high road .then u shoul have to get a noc from ur nearest police station to proved that u have no criminal record .it payer is not an issue .then the interview will happen to make big hole in ur pocket depnding upon ur talk and socila status.

now officially they said that crc is closed for membership till 2009.(rear gate is always open for pocket filled money f**)

thank you

No replies probably because your post was titled "HI EVERY ONE" - not a very de.scriptive title for what you are/ were asking... I've taken the liberty of editing the title and merging both threads. Hopefully you should get a few more responses now...

Cheers!

Need airgun buying adivce

Post by ABABUJAY » Fri May 30, 2008 11:52 pm

dear seniors,

i sold my rws 54 last week hoping that i cud get a pcp (preferably a candor by air force). i also posted my intreast in wanted column. but still now there is no positive responce.........why.........is this a verry rare gun? verry difficult to procure? as far as i know this is the only gun whoose caliber can b changed and delivers velocity more than1200fps in .22 caliber.

my question is

As a chennai resident is it possible to get this dream gun if not i need a gun wih velocity more that 900 fps, is there a better gun than a 54r ws?

how bout rws 350?will this model accept scope sucessfully? whats the market price including transporting or should i switch back to 54.

i always go in for a fresh piece, how to find out if the piece is a brand new one and defect free? plzz advice
regards babu

An RWS 350 is essentially a Diana 350 Mag. It is a springer. ( Break Barrel )

There are many other available, gas ones, pcp ones, from so many makers.

Log on to Pyramid AIr, Air Gun world and other sites to check which model suits you.

I do remember seeing in last month's issue of Shooting Times a review of a new pcp from BSA and very moderately priced compared to similar guns.

Probably because you would need a license to own an AirForce Condor. You may not be aware but there is a (crude) power restriction on airguns in India. Those that have more power require an arms license. This is determined by the so called deal wood test. Someone had earlier asked about importing a Condor PCP airgun here and you should get more info on that thread... search the forums here, should not be hard to find.

Cheers!

Dear Babu,
As Abhijit has rightly and knowingly said that you would most probably be not allowed to import the Condor. You could have a look at many other rifles on www.pyramidair.com (they ship to india) and it is no hassle getting them cleared etc. i recently got a 460 Mag. and am loving it. It is a really nice gun.

Regards,
B.
