PFC Model guns availability or shipping to India
Hi,
I know this question has been asked probably before, but i am posting it again to see if there
are any updates on this topic.
Are the PFC model guns such as those manufactured by MGC, Marushin, available in India ?
I was also visiting Tokyo Central Hobbies web-site and thinking of ordering model guns such
as the MGC M1911A1 .45ACP PFC via their online shop.
Will i face custom problems when these model guns are shipped to India ?
Thanks,
Ashish

Theoretically Not, as they are not real gun and just replica, and can not shoot any projectiles, But practically you will definitely have a hard time, convincing customs officer that they are not real firearms
(As MGC and Marushin are made of zinc alloy and famous for their fantastic detailing including all manufacturing marks, and these models can accept reusable brass dummy cartridge containing PFC and can simulate the blowback action)

Hi Ashish.
I am pretty much interested too, in the look-alikes. I did find some being sold here, in Bangalore. but the price quotes were sky-high. I will check with some others here and let you know if I come across anything.

I saw them at a stall in the Forum mall. They had over a dozen in variety. Thay also did mention they have a shop somewhere in Bangalore. They also put up a good exhibit of replica armour and soldier suits etc.

Hello All,
I did order a MGC Colt Goverment 1911 PFC Model gun from Japan and it was directly delivered to my doorstep without any hasles. It came via Japan Post Express Mail service and delivered via Speedpost in India. The shipping cost was not very high, and was approximately around USD 40.
It is a nice, but used model, and has some issues which i will put down in another topic.

Hello All,
I purchased the model gun from Tokyo Toys distribution website, they actually own about 5 companies, including Tokyo Central Hobbies,
WWIIguns, Vietnam guns, etc. I bought my model from Tokyo Central Hobbies website, given below :
http://www.tokyohobby.net
( Look at online shopping->Model Guns).
In my experience, you need to have a Paypal account to purchase products from them. They generally always answer your emails within 24 hours, but make sure to check with them about product availability before ordering them, as they may take time to source your ordered product and dispatch it.
Online tracking is available at Japan Post (English page), but please note that the tracking is accurate till the product is being dispatched from Japan, but the tracking info. will be updated less frequently, once the goods reach India, but i was happy with their service as my model gun reached within 3-4 days at my doorstep, when i used express air mail service.
The model guns are quite expensive, you may get cheaper model gun kits manufactured by Marushin, for less than USD 200, but typically all MGC fully assembled model gun products are above USD 300. I paid about USD 440, for the model-gun, extra PFC catridges, about 300 7mm caps and extra magazine, and the total shipping cost was another USD 40. They also mention that the shipped good is a "Toy Model" on the shipped package.
Tokyo Toys Distribution earlier did not have a very good reputation if you look at some reviews at Arnie's Airsoft, but i found their service quite reliable and helpful. They are also providing good after- sales service, by trying to solve some model gun problems i have by reqular email correspondence.
There is another company :
www.modelguns-worldwide.com, which also sell model guns, and their price ranges are similar, but they have many more models to sell. The main issue with them is shipping costs, their express shipping cost is around USD 200, which makes buying model guns from them quite expensive.
Overall, i found buying this model gun from Tokyo Central Hobbies as quite a nice experience.
Thanks,
Ashish

Hello Zafar,
As MGC does not make Model guns anymore and most of other model gun companies have gone out of business or shifted to Airsoft stuff ( like Marushin ), most of the available model-guns manufactured in 1990's are used, as so was the model i received. But modelguns-worldwide.com, do sell some model-guns which are manufactured in 1990's but are brand-new. They also maintain the used model-guns quite well.
Thanks,
Ashish
