Thanks for posting, so not all .22 air rifle require a license and the exemption still exists as long as it falls below the threshold stipulated for being classified as a firearm. Not sure why the general thinking now is that all air rifles in .22 requires a license.

I had a Diana 52 side lever in .22 back in India and sold it when I was told a new law was going to be in effect shortly that will classify all .22 air rifles as a firearm and will require a license. My father was already fed up of regular visits to the local police station because of his shotgun and did not want the additional problems associated with owning a 2nd firearm. I think Diana 52 would still be classified as a firearm because of its velocity/energy but I was able to get it through the customs with out much problems back in the 1990's. I remember purchasing it from Al Sayad sports in Dubai, not sure if that store still exists.
