Hello fellow shooters....finally managed to set the accuracy of my new Diana 350 Magnum, 0.22 cal.

Guys, while this may sound exhuberant, but the rifle really is a powerhouse!! The balance is beautiful, the open sights are good & the trigger is not bad either. Managed to set the trigger to my comfort level & the gun hit each time...bang on. Tried it at various distances & my current conclusions are:

@ 10 mtrs: don't even risk firing at this distance. The pellet will hit & probably richotech right back at u! Three of the pellets (of about 200 i fired from this range) grazed me right back at a fearsome velocity. Never again wud i want to fire at this distance...at least with this bruiser.

@ 25 mtrs: Fabulous! the gun hits with an awesome power & brilliant accuracy. With pointed pellets (Marshall shot...a cheap & in no way well grained Indian pellet), & aimed at a wooden block (about 2 inch) it cuts a hole like a punch machine does through paper. Clean, neat & no wasted transfer of energy or creating wooden shards.

@ 40 mtrs: highly accurate. retains it's fantastic penetrative power.

@ 60 mtrs: very accurate. Have not checked on the penetrative power at this distance though.

Ran out of shootable space for distances further than this, but as a novice, I can safely say:

1. the gun is powerful. In my case...accurately so.
2. Cocking effort takes some time to get used to, especially if some1 is used to the Indian Rifles. My IHP (0.22 & 0.177) & UTA Classic (0.22) feel like toys, comparitively.
3. Smooth. Really smooth. The gun makes a sweet noise, not messily loud & easily manageable recoil.
4. Finishing, balance & trigger feel are good.

Currently I am trying out different types of pellets. Looking out for heavier grained ones which compliment such a powerful gun.

Will keep you'll posted. In the meantime, if some1 else also has got a Diana 350 Magnum, pls do exahnge views...either thru PM or on the open forum.

Cheers!!

hi karandheer,

firstly congratulations on your airgun! :D here's wishing you have plenty of good time with it. and some pics please, for the rest of us.

i'm sure a magnum springer would be a powerhouse. what are the group sizes of shot like? and the recoil?

try using a pellet trap, rather than a blank wall. some home made jugaad like telephone directories (a couple) strapped together should absorb the pellets.

happy shooting

Thanks Hami...yep...realized tht there has to be some muting behind the target..especially when the accuracy is being set. In fact to protect the wall I placed a stone (ignorance about the gun's power & in any case a dumb thing to do...power or not) behind it. At a particular angle, the pellet wud richotech towards me. The other pellets were being smashed to smitherness with the impact.

Surely..will try n post some pics of the 350..

Congrats Karandheer

do post some pic's mate!

about the pellet trap, i have made 3 of em using glass boxes and yellow pages and a few of those glossy newsprints, they work pretty well with my rifle, not too sure about your magnum, but if you want i could send you pics.

by the way how much did you shell out for the rifle?? also did you buy a scope for it, if so which one??

Oh! nvm just enjoy your rifle shoot safe, as i am sure this is powerful enough to do some severe damage :)

Cheers and happy shooting
Sid

Congrats on your new acquisition... :) A word of caution though, use only medium / heavy weight imported pellets in your airgun... for e.g. H&N Field Target Trophy, Crossman premier, JSB exact, etc. Air-rifles can be pretty picky in terms of which pellet performs best (accuracy/ power), so you may want to try a few varieties before settling on the best one for your particular gun.

Using cheap Indian pellets could ruin your (rather expensive) airgun - permanently!

Cheers!
Abhijeet

Hi Andy...nopes...no scope on this yet. Will break into the gun first & then get one. But yeah...have heard tht this gun surely damages scopes...so m gonna be extremely careful abt the scope selection.
Yep...have already read thru the network54 site & it's discussion on Diana...quite informative I must say.

Thanks Sid....have created a pellet trap made out of an old phone directory...& the pellet goes in till about 700 pages...so i guess the directory will tackle about 500 shots & then it's gonna be as good as paper shred!! Old directories for donation...anyone? :D

Hi Abhijeet...yep..am realizing tht the gun deserves better quality ammo for sure...Gsmith pellets have been known to be excellent...so wud try them. The master shot, marshall shot ,UTA etc r not really up to the mark.

G Smith might be better than the run of the mill, no-name types - but are no where near being termed as excellent... Don't be penny wise and pound foolish! Contact every single overseas relative you have and start getting tins of imported pellets ASAP!!

Cheers!

hmmm..Abhijeet..u sure r right abt tht..but is it:
1. difficult to order the pellets online? I mean wud they also be subjected to the same suspicion as air rifls wud be?
2. Some time back I seen a website which stated that acessories can be sent to India but not air rifles. Cud this be true?

Going by G Smiths website..the pellets seem to be of the international standards...will get some & try them out.

Guys..now my quest is for the Webley & Scot Patriot (o.22 cal)...know of any1 who can help me get it? :)

yes sure theres a doctor in this forum who owns one, please try to get in touch with him,
dont ask me who is the man, since theres only one who owns the beasty shooter.

try gettingnimported pellets recommended by abhijeet asap, till then u can use moderately ,pellets made by gunmark/gsmith ,the heavier ones,i had put the wts of each pellet made by them in a topic named my gunmark mod 350 in the airgun section,u can go thru the posts as a ref.

350 Magnum ..... it makes about 19 - 20 FPE in 0.177 so I'm guessing about 22 - 23 FPE in 0.22 with the right pellets.

What I'd like to know is, how long does the mainspring and internals on such powerful gun last, till its dropped about 10 % in power ? And once the spring does decide its had enough, can you procure an exactly similar new spring, piston and all and replace it ? I'd drop dead if I paid 35K for an airgun and then found that supporting parts would'nt be easy to get.

Hi Sanjiv...yes...surely trying to lay my hands on imported pellets for the Diana 350. Was just going thru your previous threads on Gsmith pellets etc..so wht was the chrono test showing. Coz if ur getting a 950 fps for 10k...that's a steal! Accuracy of course wud have to be checked...but still I feel it's a steal!
