Hi Friends,
I have been using Gamo Pro Magnum Penetration 0.177 pellets in my Precihole air gun with Tasco 3-9 X 50 scope. Accuracy of this pellet is amazing and am getting a clear hit up to 45 Meters and pin point accuracy at 30-35 meters. Last week my stock of same pellet got out, since I was quite satisfied with the performance of this particular pellet, I decided to buy more of them. Local dealer was also out of stock of this and he suggested me something else, I didn't wanted to do any experiments with new pellet so I simply turned down his suggestion and moved to inline market.
After half an hour searching, I zeroed into Air Gun India website and found same pellet, but it was in 500 pack and the tin pack was black. The old stock which I was using, used to came in 250 pack with a picture of Hunter on lid. Anyways, I made the deal and a week later I got my courier nicely packed. Top lid was black with same specifications mentioned and a regular Gamo mark. Although this time "COMPETITION" was also written on it.
After shooting several shots, I was completely disappointed with the performance of new lot of same pellets. Accuracy is gone, grouping is very poor and scattered. Pellet tends to go left, up ,down and unpredictable. However, when I am shooting with my old stock( few of them are still left) am getting the same pin point accuracy.
After watching closely, I noticed wing like thin lead lines on opposite side of pellets, just like in cheap pellets. Perhaps these are oozed out extra leads from cast during manufacturing, but these should have been trimmed. The old lot doesn't have this problem. Attaching comparative pics of both for better understanding. To mention here, the shape and size of both pellets are identical.
Could someone tell, does these wing like extra leads on pellets affects accuracy?? am just assuming that this could be the reason for poor accuracy. If yes, what can I do to fix it.
Thanking you guys in advance for your help and suggestions.
