Handy Ballistic Chronograph

Dear Friends I have made a handy ballistic chrony and named it simpChrony,
I have done many R&D exercise and lots of study for about 2 Months to build this.
It is tested with commercial F1 Chrony with help of Mr. Somnath Bose and with Combro Chrony with help of Mr. Moulindu Debbarma….
With corrected measures it is showing perfect results with .22 and .177 pellets.
It is a micro-controller device which capture pellet movement and calculate the velocity, fpe,
Results are shown on Blue-back-lighted LCD Display,
it is based on Infrared so external light source have no effect on its operation, can be used at night too
it has an option to enter pellet weight, based on this fpe is calculated...
it has an option to change sensitivity of pellet detection ,which is not present in other chronograph, this makes this chronograph to detect every
shot
the pellet always travel throgh the same path so minimum error compared to f1 chrony, where angular variation of pellet path results in low
velocity figure

the chrony makes it automatically ready after each shot.
I am attaching some images in the development phase[lots of cosmic modification will take place later]

Excellent. Would you tell us what sensor did you use for detecting pellets - light / IR or something else.

its based on ir sensors further amplified signals by circuitoty

Added in 9 minutes 25 seconds:
its based on ir sensors further amplified signals by circuitoty
some more images clicked by Mr. Basu to elaborate mounting on barrel
Thank you Mr. Basu for your effort

Thanks Harsha,
This is deadly accurate ballistic chrony ,being conceptualised and prepared by you.
I say this ,having tested the same shot with imported F1 light Chrony.
The data is found to be almost 99.9% same that of with imported chrony.
The difference of 1-2 fps was due to position of two chrony ,one after another against the same shot.
It does not require any light ,so very easy to use any time during 24 hrs.
I wish , if you make it commercially , many members will be benefited.
Very nice product.
Thanks again......

Basu

That's really encouraging to hear. I do hope you'll patent it and make it available for the 1000n's of shooters in the country who long for one.

patenting it will be a tough job...as this kind of work has done before...
i will try to provide it for shooters...but first i have to estimate demand before production,
and need to know how much people ready to pay for this...

Congratulation finally you succeeded

Which photo sensors you used?

Purchased from USA through a friend, found effective in milliseconds where normal sensors fail

But which sensors you brought

Sharp GP2Y0A21YK0F,
This is a proximity sensor module,
Then I have taken out the ir led and sensor from that and used it

IR seems to be a first. That's why I thought you could patent it. Anyway, all the best and looking forward to seeing it's development.
