Hi, today I got my first air rifle, after spending a lot of time on this forum I finally purchased a precihole nx-100 polaris rifle today. It came along with a free scope the dealer was providing part of his promotional deal. The scope is a bushnell 4x20 scope. But I need help to fix it on rifle, can someone who owns a polaris help me out with it.
Thanks & Regards

Thanks for reply. I am new to air rifle shooting and since this forum has many experienced people who own the same gun I bought I thought I should ask them directly.

The basic principle is the same for mounting & zeroing scopes. Precihole is no exception. It has an 11mm scope rail built into the receiver (Those two parallel grooves on top of receiver tube where it ends). Your scope mounts will need to be screwed into those. Do it slowly, take your time, don't be in a hurry to jack it up & blow out the bulls eye, you could end up with a broken scope!
I would suggest watching a few videos before you get cracking, lest you crimp your scope tube or something...
There are also many threads here relating to scopes & precihole, you need only search!
Try out a few types & brands pellets, see which one your gun gives the best accuracy with (again, many threads here). In general for accuracy, dome > pointed > wadcutter > hollow points. Precihole pellets are good among Indian brands but also more expensive.
Heavier pellets have a lesser muzzle energy but deliver greater power on target due to lower coefficient of friction (they experience lesser drag).
You can download Chairgun & Chrono Connect apps on your phone. Will help a lot. Gun can be safely zeroed between 25-30 yd.
I would also recommend reading up on airgun shooting techniques, artillery hold, stances, breathing & trigger discipline etc. When you have time, check out this book Cardew & Cardew (link can be found in one of the threads, pls search).
You could use a heavy wooden plank or target stop behind the target sheet to stop ricocheting.
You will need to do some maintainence after a few hundred shots, for which there are detailed instructions somewhere here itself.
As you progress, learning follows. Shoot well, shoot responsibly.
The hands that hold guns must be complemented by heads full of reason & hearts full of compassion!

Remember to use mounts that incorporate a stop screw. There is a little hole made in the dovetail rail to facilitate this. Failure to use this stop will result in scope creep. Use two piece mounts.

I suggest one piece mounts. They are stronger. In case you are using Weaver/Picatinny Rings with dovetail to weaver mount adapter rail they are also very very strong.

Hi all I don't if it sounds stupid but I am unable to fix the scope on polaris
here are the pics of scope. I want to know if I need to slide it along the dovetail grove (from the rear end of rifle) or just put it there and then screw it. I tried both but to no success.
Please help me out

Loosen the screws on the side. This will also separate the claw like grip on the end of the mount . align the sides of both the "claws" with the grooves of the dovetail and slide it till the scope reaches a comfortable position. A position where you can aim quickly without undue stress to the neck or the eye. Then tighten the side screws. This will cause the mount to grip the receiver tightly (something like a vice) . don't over tighten them though, you might strip the screw heads.
Also, that looks more like a weaver mount than a dovetail. Maybe thats why you cannot attach it. Can anyone confirm?

Hi Mistborn,
If that is the scope you plan to use, dont. You will be better off using the open sights. These scopes will not hold the zero for more than a few shots. Also the angle of view through the scope will be very limited and not too bright.
If you are still keen then mounting them is fairly simple, loosen the clamps and fit over the dovetail and tighten.

@kshitiz, No I don't plan to use this one but wanted to learn how to mount a scope along the dovetail groves. This scope I got for free

I think this scope will make life miserable to get to zero.
And if done at all , will not last more then 50 shots.
It is much better to shoot with open sight.
Yet nothing wrong in trying.

Hi Mistborn
I don't think you have used the scope stop pin. If you had, the rear mount would have been closer to the end of the cylinder. If you haven't, with every shot, your scope will move back slightly
