My New SDB Apache SE

Dear Friends....
Inspired by Big Daddy's review of Classic SE , I kept on searching for same gun.....but never got that as that was a prototype only.
Later I understood that the same AR has come up with some more features and now called as SDB ApacheSE.
Look like traditional Diana 35 and with rubber butt pad.
This AR is neither heavy nor light ...... just 3.4 kgs.
Balance is far superior then my Aimco and Can- on.
Strangely it started hitting target from very first shot , unlike others who take some shots to get settled.
Cocking was noisy but not very hard.
It moderately dieselled for 10-15 shots and after that no smoke could be traced.
I used two pellets, Unitedshot Dyna Special 14.5 grns and Unitedshot Power Ranger round head 12 grns.
Both the above pellets found to be perfect fit and Power Ranger offered vicious velocity.
Least vibration is another feature of this gun ever with such power. I remember Big Daddy had also mentioned about it.
Specialty of ApacheSE is its adjustable trigger pull.Trigger can be softened or hardened by adjusting the screw. This is wonderful.
Recently I tuned Apache with synthetic seal and moly.
Now I discover a new gun , far better than earlier one.
The irritating cocking noise is gone.
Trigger is far more easy ,softer and smooth like butter.
The power seems to have increased.
The vibration further reduced.
It is fitted with company spring only.
After tuning I find SE as a whole new gun and had I not tuned it , could never be able to know how superior gun it is.
velocity testing is done with F1 Light Chrony, following results with stock spring.

With 14.5 grns Unitedshot Dyna Pointed special :
Max- 611 FPS or 12 ft/lbs
Min – 582 FPS or 10.9 ft/lbs.

With 12 grns Unitedshot RH Power Ranger :
Max- 673 FPS or 12.07 ft/lbs
Min- 652 FPS or 11.3 ft/lbs.

The grouping after tuning, grouping found to be within 0.5”with USRH 12 grns at 10 yds.

Dear Soumen,
The ApacheSE is an excellent AR in given price.
Hope once the spring beds in , velocity will improve by 6-7 yds.
The grouping at 10 yds , may not be best but not bad either.
I expect after 500 shots ,grouping will further tighten even with Unitedshot Power Ranger.
I advice you to use only Power Ranger as economical pellet because that goes quite well with SDB barrels.

Hi All,
I've also got myself the same gun...one of the finest Indian AR I've shot. Straight shooter out of the box, I was able to take off medicine tab from ten meters and still its not tuned, so little noisy while cocking. Will soon try to get it tuned and post pics.

Why SDB is still using leather piston seals in their new models. After all synthetic seals are not expensive to make. And why all air gun manufacturers except Precihole Sports don't use moly to lubricate their guns in the first place instead of oil. The little amount of moly required to lubricate an air gun for one time is not so expensive either.

Hello Soumen, thank you for this review, seems to be a lovely Air Rifle and must be such a pleasure to shoot. I am still absorbing as much as I can from reviews such as these, however I do have one question- the last picture it seems is a collection of all your air rifles -there seems to be a noticeable barrel droop on the SDB compared to the others, is my observation correct or is it because of the placement of the guns and the angle at which the picture is taken that I am imagining a barrel droop (if at all)?

Read the link given below ....will help you to understand 'Barrel Droop' :D
Barrel droop | Air gun blog - Pyramyd Air Report
http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2006/01/barrel-droop/
Jan 16, 2006 - Barrel droop is a phrase that I believe was coined by Tim McMurray to describe the air-gun barrel that points downward in relation to the top of.......

Dear SMJ,
You are correct...there are some barrel droop, but not noticeable, as you look the first picture , did you notice anything? may be I have taken the last picture from wrong angle .
