My SAMURAI 3G gets a New Stock!!!
It’s verily said that “One Good Turn Deserves Another”….It couldn’t have been truer when it happened to me!
My wife & I were out last week shopping for our weekly groceries, when I felt a light tap on my shoulder…
Turning around I saw this guy smile & say “How are you Sir…remember me?
I weakly said…your face looks familiar…but sorry…can’t place you!
Oh! He said, it’s been a long time …I’m ‘JIVRAJ’ the carpenter …to whom you gave a job when I was desperately in need of work. Fortunately I’m well settled now with my own workshop…
By the way, I’m shortly off to the Gulf on a 3 year contract …. Sir, can I do something for you before I leave?
I was stumped by his offer…however I thought I’ll take his bait!!!
I said can you make a nice stock for my Air Rifle? His face broke into an ‘Ear to Ear’ smile when he said ‘it’ll be a pleasure’….show me your gun…
He dropped in a couple of days later & saw the SAMURAI ….the following week he came & handed me his creation – made out of ‘Malaysian Teak’!!!
Needless to say, he wouldn’t accept any money, so I bought him a fancy embroidered shirt …
Well I think with that kind of a deal, we were “Even Stevens” now!!!
PS:
1.I deliberately did not smooth sand the stock, as I prefer the feel of grainy wood texture when I shoulder the AR to shoot….The ‘Macho Feel’!
2.Also I wanted the look & feel of ‘Mahogany’ – hence while oiling the stock I added 10ml of Mahogany tint to oil mix!
3.Finally sprayed a thin coat of clear acrylic / matte finish.
