Dear Bangaloreans,

This thread I am starting to list out some places in Bangalore, where we can go over and play with our AirGuns, away from curious onlookers.
There maybe some remote places, which you can go on weekends but can we list out places within each locality ? So that guys from same or nearby localities
can meetup on weekends and have some fun.

I stay in Mahadevpura. To start with I can suggest one such spot:
Just before total mall, dodankundi, opposite to EMC2 office on Outer ring road there's small ground.
I have not gone with my airgun there any time.... but if I have company I would love to go there. :D

PS: Any one in the vicinity of Mahadevpura.. Marathalli... Whitefield ???

Cheers
Rohit

Hello Dashy/Rohit,

Count me in. I stay in Bellandur which isn't very far from where you are put up. I stayed in Mahadevapura a few years ago, and if I remember right, the place (the empty ground opposite EMC2 offices) you are talking of is the parking space for the guests at the marriage/convention halls that are situated right beside this vacant piece of land. And I do not think folks over there would be too happy seeing us carry guns; India is still India, you see, and people go crazy scared when they see gun toting fellas. Unfortunate, but that is the way it is. Unless you are talking of some other place, I doubt this place helping us much with air rifle practice. And I do not think an open field/ground would be a good idea: people would be walking around making shooting pretty dangerous.

I am open to other suggestions! I use my terrace (just about 10 mts) for practice, but would love to shoot in an open field or in a range. The KSRA is a little too far from where I stay. I have not visited the Nishaan Sports Academy, but I think we can explore that option. Membership is expensive (18k annually), but we can pay and use the facilities on a daily basis.

Let me know what you think.

What a wonderful idea Dashy to ask members to chip in to share places/ (GPS) locations where one can shoot in peace - in India (in this case - BLR)! :D Trust me - this is seriously important information!

Mostly - you can shoot anywhere in BLR, where no one can observe you, hear you, or is bothered to report you! If you go to a huge field - several 10's of acres - and you have the owner's permission to shoot - why not? OR go to a mountain range, hills, plateau or plain - NO People - is the important thing! Where Can You Discharge Firearms (airguns - in India are not firearms)? A very good good question! I say all this as along time (ex) resident of BLR

In Canada - as a PAL (Possession and Acquisition Licence) holder I can 'carry' any regular shotgun, rifle or 'non-restricetd' gun in the trunk of my car (unloaded and out of sight) but I have no idea where I can actually discharge them safely and legally (besides a shooting range or a gun club). As a licenced firearms owner, I would like to (and am allowed to) carry and shoot "in the bush"! Check this online PDF Map and let me know what you think!

There are maps (free in print, AND online http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/wildlife/hu ... AH2012.pdf - a very detailed map) designatiing where one can discharge firearms - but they are so convoluted and have so many conditions and sub-conditions that I am dizzy...and I have no idea where it is really legal!

So, where exactly is the "Bush"? :(

hey guyz... sorry I dint login for a while...

@Shashidhar: belandur is not very far off... ek baar milna to banta hai, will PM you ;-) then we can sync up more on this. Nishaan is a good idea to explore once in a while, but idea of this thread is to find free places.
yeah you are right abt the place I mentioned... even i was vary of the idea of taking a airgun and have a big gathering of smokers(there are many smoke/tea joints now) from opposite tech park looking and ridiculing !!!!
Suggestion was just a starter since i could not think of any other place, I thought lot of people will be interested and will come up with suggestions :-(

@ckkalyan: sharing GPS locations idea was great... i did not think abt that... but alas not much people in bangalore seems to be interested.
Going to hills or similiar places I feel is not a good idea I guess since pigs can frame you that you were there for hunting... and i am not a localite, so definitely they'll extract money out of me.
Had anyone had this kind of experience ?????

Find really secluded place in outskirts. If someone sees you firing a rifle or pistol they are very likely to get nervous and even call cops.It would be a very hard time explainign to them why you are carrying around a gun in open space. So if you can find a club and practice with them,go for it.

I stay near Kadubeesanhalli. There are a lot of uninhabited places near panatur.

But I doubt we will find a place that's completely private. After all its Bangalore and people are everywhere.

The PlayArena (http://www.playarena.in/target-practice.php) has target shooting facilities near Sarjapur. They charge 125/- for 10 pellets and an AR. Never been there and I don't know how packed this facility is. We can try asking them if they can rent the range without we going for their package.

Let me know if you guys find any other good place to practice for free. I'm in.

Thanks,
Barathi.

Barathi, we can also rent some farmhouse or agriculture fields for a day. I have few of my friends who own lands around Bangalore. I can check with them. We can put pendal & banner to fool people as some sports activity is going on  . What you say. Looking for some shooter friends around bangalore

It is so sad, you have to find places just to shoot air guns. Unlike old times when you could fire them just about anywhere.

ganeshn wrote:Try Omkar hills behind Rajrajeshwari nagar its basically a forest.the second one would be the small hillock next to Nandi hills.these are away from the crowded areas.
there are several places on the Kanakpura road and after Banerghatta national park.
Shooting anywhere near to national park is not a good idea even with an Air Rifle

In a city like Bangalore there must be at least few shooting ranges?
