My new Daw`s Spring action side levered rifle

My new Daw`s Spring action side levered rifle . Packs in tremendous punch up to 25-30 meters. Maximum range is 100 metres @1200ftps, as per the claim of the gunsmith himself who manufactured it ( my guess the velocity is around 800-900 ftps), but it appears that effective range is 80 mts approx. Finishing, I would allot 5/10. The stock and fore-stock are well chiseled out, the butt is padded and the deep coloring is attractive. The nozzle sight is fairly good . Quite heavy weighs 5 kgs approx. The USPs are its cost @ 5k (with a gunbag and a pack of pointed frocked .22s). The washers are non synthetic, therefore machine oil could be used in the interiors. Comes with a sling.

Dear Ganguly,
Congratulations for new purchase.
Some more closeup pics would have helped to understand the gun better.
Is it a tap loader ?? or pellet to be loaded in barrel ??
If it is not tap loader then there are posibilities of high FPS.
I wonder about the knowledge of FPS of the manufacturer.
1200 fps is no joke.

Dear Ganguly,
I am looking for an Indian made - Fixed barrel loaded via sliding breech opening. From the look of your photos the workmanship of the Daws rifle seems better than those available in Indian markets. Please share some more pictures, your view about the rifle and accuracy. whom can i contact?
Looking forward

Sorry for the delayed response since I was tied up with elections. I have uploaded a few more pictures of the rifle. It is a barrel loaded one. Unlike the Diana Side lever model, the anti bear trap is below the fore stock of the rifle. The negative point is that it does not have any scope rail. The pistol grip is great and the stock has a cheek piece too. The overall finishing is satisfactory. A little improvisation near the chamber could easily be done. Over all I am pretty happy with its performance. The muzzle velocity for .22 pellets seems to be within 700-800 FPS, plus or minus, as against the tall claims of the gun smith himself. But this velocity is quite satisfactory for me. The muzzle sight is pretty good.
I bought it from N. C Daw`s at dalhousie square in Kolkata. Its their home made product. Their contact no. is 033 2230 4317 ,
[email protected]. They only have a few pieces of this type left since as per their experience, the break barrel ones sell more. The rifle costs around Rs.5500/-, and I managed a gun Cover free
.

Thank you very much for the additional photos and all the information. I have already made some inquiries on the number you provided and have sent an e-mail to N. C Daw`s. Definitely the finishing is far better and the cost is much more reasonable than those available in Delhi. The rifle looks solid and decent, finally I have made up my mind to go for it. The Daws promised share more information and photos I will wait for it. Anyway thanks for all the help.

Dear vassili,
Seems that I am not allowed you to message you back. I will be visiting daw's pretty soon after the elections, to get some minor adjustments done on one of my dbbl. You can tell me what you wish to enquire from them.

Mr. Ganguly
i am a new fellow to this forum. I had keen interest in target shooting since my childhood, i also have an air rifle 0.177 which is about 15 years old bought from kolkata, was gifted to me by my father. I now want to buy a new AR, please suggest me if the above stated N. C. Daw's side lever gun is good in comparison to IHP national model 35. I do not have your phone number. I wish to talk with you regarding this. For your own security, please do not share your contact details on public forums-Moderator

Dear Debjeetji,
you seem to be the only reliable source of information for many of us who are interested this rifle. I am yet to receive the promised mail 'more information & photos' from the Daws. What is your opinion about the front and rear sights? is the rear sight adjustable? The front sight doesn’t look impressive any room to change it? I think somewhere you mentioned about mounting scope in this rifle – was that successful?
Many queries
