Hi,

I reckon that many IFGians are proud owner of Benjamin Discovery Air Rifle..I have read loads and loads of review on net about the air gun..But I would like to have an first hand expert advice from you guys..

1) How good/bad is the stock trigger compared to Indian made air guns like that made by IHP/Precihole? (I find the IHP/Precihole trigger pretty average) Is it so bad that after market trigger like TKO mod is an absolute necessity ??

2) How durable is the Benjamin Discovery Air gun & pump combo? Is it going to last at least a decade without inviting much trouble?

3) in case of any malfunction, can it be repaired at home or somewhere in India without much hassle?

4) is the sound really as loud as a .22lr Rifle??

5) can it (Discovery in .177) take care of varmint (rats, crow etc) up to the distance of 60-75 yards? Or am I stretching it's capability too far??

Thanks in advance...

-Nishith

Hi Kumar,
i have shot this rifle a lot. First tried it a couple of years back for the first time when a member of this forum got one. I then had the privilege of extensively using this toy when i went down south. A good friend of mine who also happens to be the sectary of a rifle association happens to own one.
So straight away ..it's wort it. Its made in the USA, so...perhaps...a bit more quality control (compared to Chines counterparts - not debating it :) ).
It's well balance and a sweet shooter.
The friend who owns this gun in a wiz with rifles. He has dismantled this rifle before and has says the mechanism is not complicated. In fact i plan of getting this toy.
It's wort for the buck.

hi... i do own a benjamin discover for quite a while now and have been using it extensively for more than a year. firstly the trigger is ok but not great compared with other imported rifles i ve had the opportunity to shoot but it is howevr better than most indian made rifles. the sad part though is that the trigger and the trigger guard are both plastic and hence lowers its durability factor. i have dismantled and serviced my benjamin discovery dozen of times and the whole mechanism is very simple. the only thing u have to worry about are the o rings in the valve which tend to wear out very quickly and you need to keep a large stock of the o rings for replacement. yup it is really as loud as a .22 lr. the durability of the rifle and pump depends a lot on climate conditions . the rifle rusts very easily and the inner parts also gets spoiled very quickly if there is too much moisture in the air. repairing can be done easily and at home as the mechanism is very simple. but
