Scope for my gun
Hi all,
This is debjeet ganguly, and recently I have added to my collection a side cocked .22 bore spring piston operated rifle, manufactured by N C Daw of Kolkata. The rifle is designed on Diana 48 model but unfortunately it doesn't have an option to fix a scope. So my queries are :
1. Whom to approach for making necessary improvisations on my rifle to fix a scope in Kolkata ?
2. Where can I purchase a scope and what are the costs?
3. What are the best quality pellets of .22 calibre? How can I pack in more punch?

Dear Debjeet,
Wish that you introduce yourself in "Introduction section".
Target Tune India used to make such scope rail but presently they are inoperative.
You may try to get it through deal exteme from abroad.
I am unaware of any body in Kolkata , who fixes scope rail.
You may try to buy the scope from gun shops at BBD Bag.
They range from 600/- to 2500/-.Quality upto you to decide.
You may go for Aimco, Unitedshot Mastershot and Gsmith brand of pellets for your gun.
To put extra punch , please visit Gunsmith section to get the idea.

Re: Scope for my gun
Debjeet, all the best with your quest. I have a personal opinion about scopes for air rifles, particularly springers. I feel that there is absolutely no use having a scope if you do not have a shooting range that is more than 15 meters/50 feet long. A scope is simply a fancy gadget that can cost more than a springer and can be badly damaged by the springer unless you can be absolutely sure that your scope is springer safe. It also adversely affects the weight and balance of a springer.
My experience with scopes has been less than satisfactory. If you are in the habit of shooting a 20 to 30 shots a day with a springer your scope soon requires recalibration. Heck even open sights often need readjustment in a springer. I think that if you really have a place where you can shoot targets more than 20 meters away scopes make eminent sense. This is rarely the case for most urban shooters in India. Scopes are getting more attention now than 20 years ago. But what is happening in the west is that the top rifles are gradually moving out of the springer domain to PCP or at least gas ram. India is probably 20-30 years behind the west in this sphere.
As regards pellets - the gun chooses the pellets. But GSmith and AIMCO are good. Preciholes custom pellets are great for Precihole rifles. My experience with Mastershot has been generally bad and I don;t buy them any more.

Hi bennedose,
I bought a nx100 .22, the dealer gave mearksman pellets pointed, they are doing good, but I will buy presihole pellets and get back. Thanks for the information. I did not know presihole was supplying pellets. I guess there are available online.
